Three points. Thats all;

1) The L&M Screenshots thread is for general art and modeling in the gaming medium. Its for showing off your own work and looking for feedback. Its never been just for Quake 3, hence why people post all sorts in here. Of course Quake 3 related media out numbers other art as its a Quake 3 forum.

2) None of my comments were insults towards you other than pointing out basic flaws in your logic. You came over, and still come over, as somebody taking life far too seriously. Obs is a mod on a forum. Hes not God. But he does have the power to remove posts that go against the rules. BOTH our posts did that. Comparing this to "Religious censorship" is making you sound like a nut job.

3) I think of all people at Quake 3 World, I'm one of the least likely to have people stand by my side and fight WITH me. Fact.

While you may have had a few words related to LEM in your posts, it was mostly just bickering over who was wrong or right.

I personally rarely ever agree with o'dium about much of anything but in this case it seemed that you misunderstood him, and the situation. He read your suggestions, he didn't agree with them (this is *his* art project) and he said so. Then you took that as him basically saying "fuck you your opinions dont matter".

He just doesn't agree with your thinking. It's that simple.


Obsidian is one the most fair and level-headed moderator on this board that I know of. I've never seen him take moderator action unless it was deserved.

More on topic to your work, I remember you focusing a lot on optimization with brushes. Have you ever looked in to optimization with .ase models? There's some pretty neat organic stuff being made using models instead of patches and brushes.

If anyone break the rules or do something that is against normal forum etiquette, then yes, we will warn and then punish. That is the job of a moderator. That is my responsibility. If you walk into a club and start tossing shit up, then the bouncer will warn you and then toss you out. It's his job to make sure that people don't break stuff or cause problems with other guests.

Quake3World isn't just about Quake3. We have sections for all id Software based games. 99% of the posts in GD, Void, T&T and other parts of our forum have absolutely nothing to do with Quake at all. LEM is predominantly Quake3/Quake Live related, but certainly not exclusive to that. We've have posts about Quake 4, ET, Unreal, CoD, SWJK, STEF, etc. o'dium's work still qualifies as Level Editing and Modelling. o'dium has worked on other Quake based editing stuff and most of us game developer types find what he is currently working on fascinating and relevant to our own work.

Your initial effort (the post in the screenshots thread that I DIDN'T delete) in offering suggestions to o'dium are perfectly valid and applauded. However, everything after that basically summed up to you trying to force your opinion on o'dium when he disagreed with you. It's his work, you don't have the right to force your opinions on anyone. That's why I deleted all your following posts.

It was a photo of a jacket and some other sketches of random things along with more ranting about how you are an artist and how that somehow qualifies your opinion to be above that of o'diums. So, yes, I deleted it.

No, I don't own this site. But it is not a public space either. If anyone owns this place, I suppose that would be DooMer. He maintains the server and he has given a few of us moderator rights so that we can keep this place running according to OUR rules. Quake3World is not a democracy but it is far from being unfair. Put bluntly, if you don't like our rules or feel that you are being treated unfairly then you are free to get your own server and host your own forum. That said, I hope you can just get over it and learn to post happily just like everyone else.
