Re: World Cup thread
excellent display from Brazil. that's the mountain you've gotta climb to win these things
Re: World Cup thread
I fear the Dutchies will have a very, very hard time beating Brazil.
Re: World Cup thread
As would anyone, really. GL though
Spain v Portugal should be a hoot and a half as well.

Re: World Cup thread
Wasn't a foul by Stekelenburg. Bad call by the ref if you ask me.MKJ wrote:LOL wtf, last second goal
Oh, anyone seen the press conference from the FIFA? It was disgraceful and embarrassing.
There's a video report on it here.
It's a dutch video, but it's mostly a compilation of the questions asked by the press and they are all in English. You see how the FIFA spokesperson is really bothered by it. at the end of the video, the FIFA announces some Festival of Hope thing, but the Dutch commenter then says that at that point, half the press audience leaves the conference room.
Re: World Cup thread
We're soooo doomed against the Brazillians and their samba dancing squad of ultrafit bodybuilder footballplayers
re that FIFA vid: the whole top of the organization should be deposed, locked into tiny cages and poked with sharp bamboo sticks

Re: World Cup thread
I hope you clog wearers nail the Brazilians
Re: World Cup thread
Dunno.
There's a lot of criticism about the dutchee playing style, unenthused, uninspired and holding back.
But the results are there: 4 wins for 4 matches.
Maximum result with least effort...words to live by
A powerhouse team like Brazil might steamroll this defensive approach, but I still hold hope strange things could happen come friday.

I think the criticism is a load of bollocks. As long as the Dutchies keep winning, they can play however they want. Well, as long as they don't start acting like Italians and dive every 3 seconds.Plan B wrote:Dunno.

Paraguay moves on 5-3

Germans would have been rockedand England could have had a little bit of control on the ball.

IMO Terry getting forward into the box, resulting in the break for the 3rd goal was a bigger mistake than what the ref made, i remember thinking at the time hes a bit bold with 25 mins to go ?, you know he had his selfish hat on, running into the box hunting for glory, its not the 1st time the tossers done it

I cant help but htink that if the ref never made that dodgey decision everyone would be blaming the ball, altitude or temperature, tis always sommat
FIFA are a mess though, video tech in the argie game pretty much proved how it could be used to prevent the pis poor decisions that have already been made at this tournament

some good matches made now though, UL japan but i stopped watching 75 mins in and picked it up at extra time, everyone loves the exciting 0-0 draws

spain v portugal tonight
should be awesome, but then there's always the danger that it will suck balls

Re: World Cup thread
it cannot!
They must fight, and it will be spectacular.
Maybe eh

I read someone somewhere had the idea of fitting the ball with a tiny chip so that it beeps in the earthingie of the ref when the ball goes over the line.losCHUNK wrote:FIFA are a mess though, video tech in the argie game pretty much proved how it could be used to prevent the pis poor decisions that have already been made at this tournament, i used to be against technology in this sport too !

Re: World Cup thread
Also Portugal are my tip so far...they look to have loads more control over the game than Spain...Villa has hardly been in the game. They need to sort it out
Re: World Cup thread
FIFA boss apologised today about the disallowed england goal AND they're seriously considering goalline technology, ie, like hawkeye.
