Hey, I have a phone which needs to be plugged in to function...... it's called a landline! *rimshot*Nightshade wrote:Apparently you missed my post addressing this issue, and yes, it's bad unless you turn a couple things off. I did a bit of research and with a few changes I get battery life every bit as good as my Blackberry Curve had. The only big thing that I had to switch off was the GPS, which is a minor annoyance. I turn it back on when I need it, and I plan on rooting the phone shortly and there's more I can do then.Geebs wrote:No discussion from the evo users of its widely reported terrible battery life?
Hey Geebs, are you going to get root access on your iPho...oh, that's right. Sorry.
But seriously folks, it does seem a bit weird to those of us on this side of the pond that the evo's such a big deal; I guess it's a cultural thing, Americans like Big Stuff. There would seem to be a lot of Android phones out there with similar feature sets in a much more sensible form factor.
The comment about rooting is a bit double-edged, isn't it? I can get the latest OS for my phone by, you know, plugging it into my computer (a few months before everyone else in fact, cuz of developer access). OTOH I'm simply not tech savvy enough to screw around with root access without bricking my phone, and neither are the vast majority of android fanboys who like to cling to the coattails of the small number of people who are smart enough to bake their own roms.
That's all going to be moot in a couple of months anyway if eFusegate is a trend rather than an aberration - the service providers are bound to lock that stuff down to protect their revenue streams from additional charges for tethering and MiFi in just the same way that they have with the iPhone.

I accept the info in that blog post as accurate but jesus fuck does the writer come off as a "fanboi" or what? I guess he/she just sees it as a snarky response to a non-issue.

Apple just posted up its third quarter earnings -- its first full quarter selling the iPad -- and, well, it's raining cash in Cupertino. The company posted a record profit of $3.35b on record revenues of $15.7b, which is up from $1.83b and $9.73b from a year ago. The big stat? Apple sold 3.27 million iPads, nearly matching the 3.47 million Macs sold -- and Mac sales were up 33 percent from a year ago to set a new quarterly record. Yeah, damn.

Nice one of Moto/Verizon to own up to the very small amount of screen issues unlike some other companies.

I know I shouldn't ask about this here but you are my peeps!
When I have my Evo connected to pc can i simply scan that drive and all its content with my pc's antivirus software?
would that have a desired effect or can I mess something up?
