the damned united - ?/10 - only watched first 1/2 hour, which was ok, but probably only of interest to hardcore brian clough fans, i.e. no one

Inception (IMAX) Insanely Good/10

Awesome, awesome film. One of the best I've seen in a long time. Total mind fuck.

Side note: WTF happened to Tom Berenger? I hadn't seen him in a long time.....his head swelled up.

Might as well have called it Shutter Island 2, same lead role and everything. This movie is The Matrix, Shutter Island, Star Trek TNG episode 'The Inner Light', another TNG episode where Deana is the only one who can dream and has to give a 1 word message to sleep aliens, and takes some ideas from Memento which was also written by Nolan *shocker*. The movie was cool, but it was more like watching Kill Bill and knowing every retarded reference.

6/10.

Is it standard procedure to shove the one word title in your face at the end of a 2+ hour movie now that Avatar did it?
This.

It's a good film but undeserving of so much hype.
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.

and the ending was so fucking stupid. it DOES NOT matter if you see the gay dreidel fall over or not because HIS CHILDREN DIDN'T AGE AND THEY'RE WEARING THE SAME CLOTHES. Some of the comments i was hearing on the way out of the theater room and in the bathroom were just so stuuuuuupid.

Kick Ass 7/10

Weird mix of teenage funny movie and mindless gorey action. The premise was highly absurd but it seems they chose not to run with that, instead injecting small amounts of Seriousness into the thing. Could have been better. Mr. Cage wasn't half bad for a change though.

I was going to correct GKY's statement of it being the funniest movie of the year and say 'no no, that would be Black Dynamite, which is 10 times more hilarious' but IMDB sais that's from 2009. So there.

^^ A classic and must see that one

Me well I took myself off to see Predators and like o'dium I was totally imersed. Yes quite a bit of predictability but then why not for such a film IMO.
o'dium wrote:Predators - Fantastic/10.

Honestly, those of you crying, ask yourself why...? What was you honestly expecting? Yes, it had its flaws, yes, its not perfect... But it wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to be an 80's throwback, a sequel made in the same style, pace and method of the original.

If you went it looking for Shindlers List, its your own fault you were burned. Me, I went it hoping for another Predator film, and found myself enjoying it.

It had action. Predators. Shit blowing up. A few muscle bound men who were total idiots. Gore and awesome music. I didn't expect anything more, and got everything I wanted.

Good film.
I'd go 8.5/10 ... Better than average of course and a must see if you're into any sci-fi

Splice - 6/10
Adrian Brody and Sarah Polley

A couple of scientists secretly toys with evolution and creates a human creature hybrid and have to deal with the moral dilemma of letting it live it's accelerated life cycle. It's eerie and disturbing. There is something with the way the hybrid looks that becomes more profoundly human as it progresses which makes the movie all the more creepy. It was going along pretty well through the movie, thought provoking and moving in some parts, but then it took a downward turn in the last 10 minutes into the inevitable monster slasher movie. I was willing to give the movie a 8/10 until that point. If you're going to watch this movie, stop watching it right at the burial scene and then press the stop button on your remote. Much more enjoyable.

I can't help but feel that perhaps the studio had made some last minute changes to the script to shit all over the movie to make it more "exciting" and maybe sell a possible sequel. Reminds me of how they shit all over the ending of "I Am Legend". Except for the ending, good movie otherwise.

Martyrs
10/10 Perfect horror. This movie scared the shit out of me.

Srpski film aka: A Serbian Film 8/10
It tries hard to be the sickest film ever made and it comes close.... Insane Full penetration fucking some girl from behind..then someone hands him a machete and he hacks her head off. Woman gives birth in graphic close up, man pulls out baby and then he fucks it. It tries hard.

Human centipede. 6/10. fucking hilarious.

predators - 6.5/10
after all that fuss on the other page, i pretty much agree with pricilla. adrien brody was bearable as the lead and it was a fun enough action/horror romp that could've done with being a lot more violent. there was a moment towards the end that was almost entirely pointless and damn near nerfed the movie. wasn't as good as predator 1 or 2 for me but that might be the nostalgia talking. certainly shat on the avp franchise from a great height.

sherlock (bbc tv, episode 1) 3/10
the beeb are running 3 movie-length sherlock holmes stories with the twist being that it's all set in contemporary times. written by the same guy that did a lot of the new doctor who stuff, which explains why sherlock and the doctor are essentially the same egocentric faggot in different outfits. if you're the sort of person who thought the david tennant doctor who show was great entertainment and not just schmaltzy metrosexual twaddle then you'll love this.
