Wrong year. That's his keynote from 2009. The new one isn't available yet, as it seems. However, Kotaku posted a short snippet of it: http://kotaku.com/5611523/id-unleashes- ... the-iphone

Tbh, I am rather disappointed so far. When carmack was asked about doom4 he said they are not gonna give any information about it on this years quakecon; also the rage presentation was not streamed. :/

Though, I just saw an awesome match on phantazm11's battleforged - hope he's watched it too. =)

Edit: Hope it's ok to extend this thread to 'quakecon 2010 discussion'. :toothy:

Sure, the original reason why I posted this kind of fell on its face so might as well talk about something.

Indeed! I watched that. I liked the second match a lot better than the first. I think the map will take some getting used to, but once people do it will become a regular. It would be a nice 2v2 map as one of the casters noted. But without a definitive central location, it would be hard to place an easily accessed power up without messing with the layout.

I hate id Software now, they lied once again about showing Doom 4. Everyone on the QuakeCon forums don't like Doom 4.

How can they "not like it"? There's not even a screenshot of it.

How can they hate it when they haven't seen it? And when I said they hate it, I really meant that they hate the whole Doom trilogy. Fucking kids don't even like old games like Doom.

Why are people so attached to Doom 4? I mean, that's a thing of the future. Rage is current day business. I mean, how can anyone in their right mind blame id Software for not hyping up Doom 4 when they've still got Rage to sell?

It's their fault because they changed the date of Rage so they can't show Doom 4, maybe they're even going to make Rage a crappy game through development from here until 2011. They said they'll show Doom 4 this year and that it will be the biggest thing and all but they haven't. By the way, why's this in Level Editing and Modeling forum?

Calm down and give it a rest. id Software is in charge of a business and if the work that they have on Doom 4 isn't up to their standards for press release just yet, it's fully justified of them to not show it. A poor showing would be bad for their business and business is more important than impressing the fans. I would rather not see anything on Doom 4 rather than see some shitty early alpha level or a pre-rendered trailer. Game development is hard work, let the boys take their time and do their job right.

Instead they showed Rage on an iPhone, which I think is technologically more exciting than Doom 4 anyway. They never lied about anything, they never officially announced Doom 4 would be at QuakeCon, it was just expected to make a showing by various news channels. Besides, done when done and all that. Crying on a forum about Doom 4 not being at QuakeCon just seems a bit juvenile, so stop it.

Yes, but at the same time the Doom 4 Alpha/Beta could be like 10 times better than the retail.
