Re: Tower climbing
i'm surprised they don't have them in case there's a freak thunderstorm or they get blown off. Maybe they'd be too cumbersome.AmIdYfReAk wrote:if i did that i was done work for the day, I'd just jump off with a parachute.

Re: Tower climbing
This, i would do....
Re: Tower climbing
I would climb to the top of that tower if I had safety equipment. Free climbing, I would not do.
I always thought they turned off the power to power lines before maintenance and inspections. That's amazing!

Re: Tower climbing
Tower climbing, no problem. Carousing on HV lines...I don't know about that shit.
Re: Tower climbing
Understanding the priciples of electricity, I'd be more comfortable dealing with high wire lines. With the proper safety measures of course... I wouldn't want to do that job but I'd take it over tower climbing. I can clearly say there's no way I could transition to the outside of a transmission tower let alone free climb any part of it.
Re: Tower climbing
gotta have alot of faith on those bolts they use as ladder steps.
Re: Tower climbing
Oh that's a piece of cake for Gramps

Yep

Re: Tower climbing
If you were to fall off the top, how long would it take for you to fall all the way down? That would be awful, that you just have the time to think about how you're going to die and knowing there's nothing you can do to stop it.obsidian wrote:I would climb to the top of that tower if I had safety equipment. Re: Tower climbing
you'd have about 10 seconds to think about why you took the job, plenty of time for fear to settle in!
Re: Tower climbing
As long as the bolt has two or more threads into the nut, yer fine. They are plenty strong enough to support the weight of a man, unless you've packed on a few... like GFY or DB.Tsakali wrote:gotta have alot of faith on those bolts they use as ladder steps.
