Fact is, threads like the one below are at the same time the funniest to regulars but also the best newbie repellent.

I do know it's an alt, but that's besides the point and the point I was trying to make still stands.
What I'm trying to say is that Q3W is no longer an open community. Newbies won't come here and won't last here not because of exposure, the name of the site, the URL, the number of forums, the number of posters or the topics. No, it's because Q3W is mostly a clique of people who have "known" each other for, in some cases, over 10 years. What's fun to us regulars isn't funny or even remotely interesting to newbies, even if they decide to stick around beyond the first flames and troll attacks.

I'm not saying Q3W should change it's ways, but to believe we could get Q3W as active as it was 10 years ago is rather naive.

You know it's an alt now, after we all laughed at you for thinking it was a real n00b. Nice try son.

I've gone out of my way in this thread to make it clear that I'm not talking about attracting n00bs. I have commented though that if people are worried about n00bs being scared off, then some half decent moderation can easily fix this. And no one is for a second trying to say the board could ever be as busy as it no doubt was when it first appeared.

Unfortunately, since this is Q3W, those things are mutually exclusive. Either you allow noobs in by policing GD, or you keep the regulars happy and keep Q3W to it's incestuous self.

edit:
also, the number of posts in Q3 discussion, T&T and id Legends these days amounts to almost nothing. So merging those with GD will have a net result of nearly 0. That's not to say I'm against a merge, but I just don't believe it'll have the desired effect.

If the one n00b that registers here every six months is of such importance then that's easily dealt with by the means previously discussed. It's hardly "mutually exclusive". Regulars aren't going to be unhappy if n00bs are to be welcomed.

I'm not trying to say merging the other forums is a certain way to increase traffic. But if it does increase posts (which I believe it would) then that's definitely a good thing, and if it doesn't then nothing's been lost except for a few sub forums that no one cares about. It's a realistic option. Any other suggestion such as registering new domains etc, are retardedly unrealistic.

I never implied that the topic starter was a noob. That's your own interpretation. But let's not dwell on that too much. It is of no importance.

LawL wrote:Combine all the other bullshit forums that get like 3 posts a day into GD. So you have something like 3 forums here: GD, The Void and Announcements... or something along those lines - I'm sure you homos catch my drift.

Thoughts?

If the mods would let me post random thought threads this place would be happening again.

All the commotion... lulz! I can see why there's no traffic in this site. Too many trolls scaring the noobs away.
