It's getting near the end of the season but warm today, so I'm getting in the time before the depression of winter sets it. It'll be good though, as it's time for tires/maintenance/some new gear.
So who else here rides, I can't be the only one.
Pic from halloween. Later I went out in a cow suit, it got more attention surprisingly. 3 people changed lanes/pulled out into me while I had all that shit on my bike, go figure.

I started riding a bit over 6 months ago, still on a restricted license so I've got a tiny bike [2006 Honda VTR250]. I'm a bit of a sucker for the naked look and styling, not to mention it's a V-twin which [I'm given to understand] has more accessible power at lower revs. In having said that, I've never ridden a Japanese inline-4 so I've really got no basis for comparison. Once I'm off restrictions [in about another 9 months] I'll be looking to test ride the usual suspects in the ~600cc range [CBR600RR, R6, ZX-6R, GSX-R600], perhaps a Monster 696 but my current top pick is the Triumph Street Triple 675.
Having a lot of fun so far, and the VTR250 is great. It's light and agile, great commuter. It's also fun to get out on the weekends, there are some great riding roads in and around Sydney.
Weather-wise it's also brilliant. Winters get cold, but not terribly so. There are also few rainfall days per year. The summers are glorious though I'm told is does get a bit hot, especially in standstill traffic.

I've been riding like 3 or 4 or 5 years or something, I can't remember. Been super fun but I'm in the same boat as you right now, itching for clip-ons and rear set pegs. The FZ6 is like 97 horse so it's pretty peppy, but it's still a standard and the riding position is quite upright. I'm worried with my height 6'3" I'll have trouble finding a 6-800 sport that is comfortable.
If you go for the GSXR, go for the 750. It has more power and is barely heavier than the 600s for most years iirc.
I don't have any good videos of my stock FZ6 pictured, but I've been messing with camera mounts and do have a nice 30-~100 roll on on an uphill onramp on my sister's bike. Same year and model, but it has a Power Commander(adjusts ignition/fuel) and Scorpion pipes. I used to think mine was faster even with her mods, then I decided to actually access the Power Commander myself and it turns out the previous owner had it set up incorrectly. Now I like her bike better

One of the experienced riders who occasionally joins our learner rides has a Daytona. It's a really sweet bike and he's the one who suggested the Street Triple to me. Otherwise I would have still been stuck on a Monster haha.

I've only been messing with them since about when I posted that thread asking about video conversion, so I don't have much footage. The only real interesting ride is from a few weeks ago when I only had 1 camera, and it vibrated like a motherfucker on the handlebars. It came out better on the peg mount, but it's like a 3 gig container and I need to convert it and cut it up still.
I finished a video of me going offroad when my turn was covered in gravel but it's pretty boring too.
That's my favorite area around me. The road there moves to the hilltops and just runs along them, and almost all of the turns are open so you can see far ahead and use both lanes if need be. Good times, I'll have to get down there again before the weather turns.

Right so I went out today on that with the cameras, but when I converted the speedo video it went from 60mb to 12. The first one I tried here started at 1.6gigs and was up to 1.4 before I stopped it. Guess, I'll have to mess with options, could the other one have been so much smaller because it the image was fairly stationary?

I'd ridden the christ out of that bike in the last 5 years, done almost 80,000 kilometres (50,000 miles). I just wanted to get rid of it and get something else. Rego was coming up, insurance, needed new tyres and a service. So instead of forking out a good $3k on all of that I just decided to get rid of it. I miss it but it's not killing me to not have a bike like I thought it would and it's forced me to ride my push-bike everywhere which I really love. Will look into getting a middleweight around July next year. I'm shying away from spending so much on bikes and middleweights are cheaper everywhere - purchase price, petrol, insurance, tyres, everything. I love the Daytona675 and would look at either a 2006 or 2007 model but also am giving a lot of thought to a 2005 ZX6R. The'yve both got really powerful bottom ends for their class. Just need to find one with low k's that hasn't been dropped etc.
I hear you, but I've always been VERY leery of buying a used bike, especially a 600. The teen 'tards around here flog the shit out of them and if I was going to buy one I'd only do it if I had the time and ability to do major service on it myself. Telling if it's been dropped is easy, finding out whether or not it's been thrashed is not so simple.
I can see the wisdom in buying a 600, no one needs the HP or torque that liter bikes provide, but god I love it. When I get another bike it's likely going to be a 1000, I just can't see going any smaller. If I have my way, I'll be getting a Ducati or one of the badass new BMW S1000RRs.
