Re: Dexter Season 5
I don't think it so strongly any more than I "think it strongly" that the sky is blue. I'm not even really betting against the show....I'm betting against the fact (proven over and over) that every show begins turning to shit and "experimenting" with dumb ideas after the third or fourth season.EtUL wrote:Quinn is a long shot I'd guess, but I wouldn't put it past then to weave the person on the other end into his life somehow.
Why do you think that so strongly?
Re: Dexter Season 5
You've bitched and moaned in great detail about every episode thus far, that's hardly "an ep or two".EtUL wrote:Aye, because it's given me 4 good seasons and it'd be a bit LawL to watch an ep or two and go "SHIT SHTI SHIT GIVING UP ON THIS SHIT"LawL wrote: Yet you'll continue to watch every single episode that comes out, as you will for every subsequent season.
But then you just give me shit for that then, right?
Unless a circle jerk about how great the show is makes for a more interesting thread?
Admit to yourself that, like every single show in the history of television, subsequent seasons can never be as strong as the first as ideas wane and the novelty loses its shine.
If you hate the show now as much as you say then don't watch it.

I'm trying really hard to see it as a quality show but it's damn near impossible these days
the show is all over the place... there are about 3 main plots going on and quite frankly I could care less for any of them.

seinfeld, ally mcbeal (rofl), mash.. just a few examples of shows that disagree :TGONNAFISTYA wrote:MKJ wrote:LawL wrote:like every single show in the history of television, subsequent seasons can never be as strong as the first as ideas wane and the novelty loses its shine.

Ally McBeal? Ok...I'll give you Seinfeld and M.A.S.H was "ok" (although a mediocre last season) but Ally McBeal? Uhm.....lol?MKJ wrote:seinfeld, ally mcbeal (rofl), mash.. just a few examples of shows that disagree :T
So there's like....3, 4 maybe 5....hell...even ten shows in the history of television that didn't suck after season 3? I can name a few myself that aren't on your list, but it's still not a good argument when you look at the hundreds of shows that have historically done what I said they historically do.
All I'm saying is that the longer a show lasts, the higher the probability it'll begin sucking. Dexter (while awesome through 4 seasons) is beginning to show cracks.
And you should put away the rolleyes, you're using it too much these days.

LawL's statement was that every show's first season is the best. and that is absolutely not true. most shows lose their shine after a few seasons but the first is usually mediocre because the writers havent found their comfort zone yet. Dexter an obvious exception
also;
wat. i hardly ever use the rolleyes smiley. perhaps i used it three times in a row as a reply to a post you made? and if so its prbably because you've been more cynical than usual lately.GONNAFISTYA wrote:And you should put away the rolleyes, you're using it too much these days and looking like a prick.

Nothing has changed here: I'm cynical about some things and optimistic about others.
Perhaps it's your perpective that has changed? You seem to still be stinging from the disagreement we had a while back.

was that a no u in disguise? if so we should take it outside
Re: Dexter Season 5
Writing on Dexter has definitely suffered a little this season, but you have to remember that last season had trinity killer and he isn't going to be beaten any time soon.
I hope they're in the end-game for the series now and i'd rather they finished the show in style, rather than dragging it out pointlessly and ruining it, Nip/Tuck style.
Still, always nice to have Robocop on our screens. MURPHY.... ITS YOU!!!

I meant the first seasons are 9 times out of 10 stronger than the latter.MKJ wrote:LawL's statement was that every show's first season is the best.
There's exceptions to any general rule, but the rule still stays the same for the majority of times you pedantic faggot. I could provide 500 examples of TV shows where the earlier seasons are stronger than the latter if I could be fucked doing so, which I obviously can't.MKJ wrote:seinfeld, ally mcbeal (rofl), mash.. just a few examples of shows that disagree :TLawL wrote:like every single show in the history of television, subsequent seasons can never be as strong as the first as ideas wane and the novelty loses its shine.

All of the other villians were precise too...these ones are sloppy as shit.
The guy drives 4 cubans out to pull some barrels out instead of doing it themselves? Eh, I can kinda see that, but then the dick left them there at the scene of the crime. Then just more dumb luck with the drunk driver, and more depending on Matsuka being a moron with the wallet and all of that.
Not to mention the Santa Muerta mess...the whole scene in the club was just fucking dumb and set up for another deb/dude showdown. Really weak writing.

And angel and laguaafr who gives a FUCK

The show has some glaring plot holes, but I still like and watch it because I find it entertaining nonetheless.

Re: Dexter Season 5
Just finished watching the past couple episodes. You're right MKJ, the club scene was tense and another screwup on La Guerta's part.
I didn't like the way the season started but its starting to pick up speed. Its a little more chaotic and Dexter is adapting and thinking on his feet, quite the opposite of the character's usual way of going about things. Its different but it may be an interesting change of pace too depending on where the writers go with the concept.
