Re: The Walking Dead
Why did Francis cut off his own hand in ep3?
Re: The Walking Dead
He didn't know the door was so well chained and assumed it would be faster to go that route. I'm sure he wasn't exactly in the best state to make a rational decision either.shaft wrote:Why did Francis cut off his own hand in ep3?
Personally I still would have gone for the chain because cutting off your hand is pretty much certain death anyways.
Re: The Walking Dead
that's bullshit. he could see it was chained and cutting through tiny links or that thin bar would be faster than sawing through your wrist anyway.
Re: The Walking Dead
It's based on a comic book, and from what I know of the comic, there's never really any mystery to the series. Just the group trying to survive after the zombie apocalypse. The cause of which is never discovered, nor is it really important to advance the show. I mean, it's zombies, after all.ajerara wrote:I think it may end up being the zombie version of Lost.

Re: The Walking Dead
Mad Max tells us sawing through the hand is quicker. He did the calculations. 10 min vs 5 min. True fact.

"I hate saws!"

Re: The Walking Dead
Hugely spoilerific knowledge of the comic book here, but here goes...
I'm wondering if Merle cutting his hand off was the alternate to Rick getting his hand chopped off by the Governor; it would seem to be the kind of decision TV executives would make. It would be hard for the main character to lose his hand when the story continues far after the event; it would mean an increase in effects budget (albeit relatively small), and increased awkwardness for the actor. It may have come down to a practical decision, and to that end, Merle may have lost his hand as a nod to that storyline. Merle didn't appear in the comics either.

Re: The Walking Dead
the guys francis. no doubt in my mind
Re: The Walking Dead
They have an old bearded guy (dude with the RV) who reminds me of Bill too. There's also a Coach and Rochelle look-alike.

Re: The Walking Dead
I just finished the third episode, having started yesterday.
this show fucking rocks. Merle and Randy - awesome performances.
And this is a refreshing break from the unnecessary tragedy found in zombie tradition.

Re: The Walking Dead
Latest episode (Ep.4) has got to be my personal favourite so far; Won't give too much away for people who haven't seen it but there is quite a lot of unexpected moments in this episode. Very Good

Re: The Walking Dead
Very satisfying ending, and it looks like it'll help push the plot forward by making them pack up camp and move on. I'm just happy they aren't lingering on the love triangle shit between the cops and the wife.

Re: The Walking Dead
It's good stuff so far, and it looks like they're not pulling that many punches translating from comic to screen, although there's been no mention of the fact that Dale (in the comics at least) is/was boning both Amy and Andrea.
Dale really is the man
I'm really pleased with the guy they chose for Glen too. He's a central character to the comics, and the guy playing him looks like he's done his homework.

Re: The Walking Dead
Serious question: why are you guys so obsessed with the television series being as true as possible to the comic books?
You fags sound like a bunch of LOTR nerds comparing the movies to the books.

Re: The Walking Dead
I'm not, and I haven't read the comics. But it seems like the comics are pretty good, so if the TV show stays true to them, then it will be good as well, no?

Re: The Walking Dead
This is pretty much my take on it. It's a good zombie show and I don't give two shits who plays what character, as long as a zombie chases and eats him.Captain Mazda wrote:I didn't even know this was a comic, nor do I care. I just like zombies.

Re: The Walking Dead
To be fair GKY, it's only really me mentioning the comics, and if I were concerned about it following them faithfully, I would have thrown my toys out of the pram by now, believe me. What interests me are the differences, and how the story has been adapted for TV.
I think they've done a fantastic job and haven't got one thing to complain about

I would respectfully ask that all of you stop acting like idiots. It appears that Lost has rotted both your brains and you all seem to think that a lone guy in a lab working against the odds and feeling as if in a losing battle is a "Lost vibe". Did you think the same thing about the main character in I Am Legend?brisk wrote:haha yeah, i got a definite lost vibe from that too.

STFU. Thank you.
