Orange do a fair plan, well i say fair but the truth is they all work out the same. if you're already a orange customer you get a discount of sorts.

16gig ipad = £199 + 24x£25 for 1gig pm (£27.50 if none orange customer).

the data plan is high but it's an easy amount to swallow each month and i promise you'll get your moneys worth from it even if it's just picking up work email.

for an extra £50 on the unit cost you can get the 32gig, which i would advise if you're away a lot in airports/taxi/hotel.

Overall it works out about £20-30 more than buying the ipad and signing up to a data plan (if you want a data plan?)

My opinion on the whole flash/USB thing is yes flash would be great, but it's not a deal braker by any mean. you can still see youtube and most flash sites are a load of balls trying to sell stuff so you don't really miss out. i will say if you check q3w on it forget links by Geoff (liveleak) and the other nintendo nerds. there's also a new browser which lets you look at sites with flash videos.

regards USB, it's just not something you need for a portable device designed for ocasional use focusing on internet.

Netbooks, i see myself getting one to replace my mac for work. since the PowerPC CPU passed away there's no real need to run graphics through a mac so it would be nice to have something small and light with Windows 7 on. these 17" MBPs are so heavy and a real pain to open on a flight.

I'd seriously consider buying an iPad if I had the disposable cash. I've toyed with a couple of them, and like most Apple products, the design aesthetics are superior to most other products. It's a slick piece of gear, in a "neat-o gee whiz" kind of way. It would be a perfect gadget to use with my Evo providing the wireless internet access, but I can't see it being anything more than an amusement. I have no practical reason to get one, it's just a neat toy. I don't give a shit about Flash, but the lack of USB is a bit too much to overlook. Guess I'll stick with a laptop.
