BKB and shaft are just upset that 40% of their countrymen believe that Jesus created the internet in its current form 6000 years ago.

Re: UBB hits Canada
Hey, at least we don't have to worry about Palin potentially becoming President of our country. Yeah, I said it.

lol @ americans laughing at conditions in other countrys. if i ever go there i will be fucking scared on every step i take, when some crazy hillbilly sherif can lock you up for 20 years for basicly anything he wants to under some patriot act bullshit or something similair. just watched a clip how some guy got a ticket for wearing a t shirt that said "fuck"... go america
now i know youre just butthurt, and cant wait for something like this to try and rub it into gkys face. i dont know why you try to defend your shitty country instead of taking a stand and change something... ah forget it.. go go america

Australia has always had caps, although in recent years they have progressively become cheaper and more reasonable [e.g. 200GB for $49.95]. It's not so bad now. But yea, 25GB is pretty lame.

o'dium wrote:I'm on Virgin 20meg, which means using newz servers and the like I pull filesat 2.8meg/second. Which is great for me... But once I hit 5gig download in a 24 hour period, my speed drops and the max I can pull files at is 512kb/sec.
Its a bit daft because 5gig these days is nothing. The problem with these services is that they limit you in a way that would have made sense 5 years ago. These days, 5gig is NOTHING for online use, and I can "legally" pull files of 30gig and over in some cases. Steam games are huge, and games like GTA4 etc are 30 odd gig. The average is anywhere from 10-20 gig.
So speed throatling and caps just don't make sense in todays world, not without some way of companies being able to apple smart check to their servers so they don't hurt download speeds...
That's complete homosex. With Shaw I have the 25/3 Mb package and a 175gb/mo limit but no throttle

You can also thank the Conservatives for this:
And for those of you who are naive enough to think that you're in the clear because you are not currently affected:
Yup, we're all fucked.

Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2011/01/ ... z1Cft2R58bCopeland said the new usage-based billing decision affect tens of thousands of DSL internet customers in Ontario and Quebec, where Bell sells its services wholesale.
However, he expects the decision to soon result in similar bandwidth caps from wholesale ISPs in other provinces, such as Telus in western Canada and Bell Aliant in Atlantic Canada.
"In the marketplace here in Canada, it's monkey see, monkey do," he said.
Customers of small ISPs that offer cable internet will also likely be affected, he added.
Large cable internet providers had already passed on internet caps to their wholesale customers, but that hasn't been enforced until now, Copeland said. He suggested that will likely change.
Yup, we're all fucked.

Re: UBB hits Canada
I checked my utorrent usage history and it says I downloaded 550 GBs in the last month
That can't be right, can it? I mean, I only have a 500 GB harddrive.

Re: UBB hits Canada
Yeah it's quite gay... I think it'd be cheaper for me to get internet through dialup by paying long distance charges to a US ISP and calling them from here.
I heard it's cheaper to buy a 160GB drive and pay to ship it to Vancouver with the data on the drive than upload/download it on the internet now.
Pretty fucking rediculous.

Thanks for reading 6 posts up, Kracus... and then quoted 3 and 4 posts up. You're wasting precious bandwidth!

Ottawa to review Internet billing
Harper is a fucking cunt. If he's re-elected I say Canada be nuked off the face of the Earth because Canadians are too fucking stupid to get the vote.Unease about a federal regulator’s decision that raises the cost of Internet service has reached the Prime Minister’s Office, with Stephen Harper now signalling he’s second-guessing the CRTC’s ruling.
