can you remind me of the other specific instances when i've expressed doubts as to the cosmopolitan nature of dutch society? it's important that i keep my opinions on global movers and shakers like the netherlands consistent

I can actually; a thread where you were in disbelief I used "fuck off nerds" at work because it's an english phrase. something the commoner apparently wouldn't be able to understand.

to be fair, I can imagine how it might seem odd that one doesn't solely use one's native language at the workplace. english speaking people don't need to adjust when working with international parties because everyone speaks their language anyway.

was it because it was an english phrase - or was it because you actually used a Testoclesius catchphrase IRL? :olo:

Screw all that jazz, I [for one] am outraged that he's still using Microsoft Outlook Fred Flinstone Edition.

Heh. Actually, the "meeting" in question wasn't really a meeting at all. We usually just hang out for 10 or 15 mins with a few people drinking a coke around 3-ish as a sort of work break intermezzo. It's become a bit of a well known phenomenon in the company because we usually hang out around the fridge in the kitchen. People walk in and out all the time, so we joke that we're in the middle of a very important meeting. It's not something we mark down in our calendars. This time, however, because a 'real' meeting was scheduled from 3 to 4 we had to move our coke break.

Oh and seremtan, we actually do work in English sometimes because there's 3 people working here that don't speak Dutch. One of them works at my department so all our department's meetings are done in English. All documentation is written in English as well.

You and me both :(
I don't know exactly why, but I heard it's because we have an ancient Exchange server which is incompatible with newer versions of Outlook. I tried connecting with Mozilla Thunderbird combined with the Sunbird plugin but for some reason the policies on the server state that when connecting through POP/SMTP, you can only send and receive plain-text email. It's retarded. The rest of our MS Office suite is Office 2007.
