Portal 2 in Februari!
Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
err, that only strengthens my point bro.
Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
Playing on pc and the graphics are fine. Don't think any other engine would run it better or prettier.
Runs smoothly with 8 x msaa and everything else maxed on my crappy 4 year old rig.
Other than that: sweet puzzlage and funny as hell; everything I wanted out of a sequel.

Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
Not really, if people are complaining about the gfx compared to other newer pc games. You're comparing it to how it looks on 6yr old console hardware. I cant help but think that when I get 200+fps on a 2yr old system (1920x1200, maxed) that there might be some areas where they could use up that extra power.MKJ wrote:err, that only strengthens my point bro.
Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
my point was that while people call it dated (eg based on resolution of textures), even on 6 year old hardware it still looks and feel more convincing than most newer engines.
im not comparing it to other xbox games, im comparing it to other games in general.

Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
what a great game! and I don't think it was short , unless my expectations were set low from all the reviews. good humor, the plot was more than enough to drive the game forward and was nicely interwoven into the gameplay. Talk about fresh and innovating IP...they sure make it look easy!
and yes, if there's a game worth having community content this is def. one of them! It has great gameplay dynamics but I hope they will be able to keep puzzles fresh and not just create tediously complicated rehashes of what's already been done. The great thing about it is not the skill level required but the deductive play style...the community should focus on that.
ps
lol@ ages 10 or older. I don't think I could finish this game at 10yo...or would i

I still have to get this
Ordered it through Zavvi.com in hopes of getting it after the easter weekend but turns out they've got a 2 week shipping time to anywhere outside the UK.

Is ok dude, don't rush it.
Got it this weekend, but I'm pacing myself.
Savouring 4 to 5 puzzles after work like a fine wine.

Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
Why can't you buy it online through Steam?Eraser wrote:Media Markt is sold out, like I told you three times already you bastard.

Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
The buying part there isn't the problem. It's the "having a PC that can run it" part is, though. I need this game for XBox 360.
Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
Your PC can't handle Portal 2?
It's definitely time for an upgrade sir.

You guys are being so rude to Eraser. The poor guy can't afford a new PC on his lousy salary. Just lay off already!

Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
what are your specs? i have a ssd and still only get 7.6 for hdd.
Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
Fair enough, although I cannot possibly imagine playing this game with any level of success on a gamepad. Especially when it comes to those multi-fling portals where you're creating portals on the fly, as it were.Eraser wrote:The buying part there isn't the problem. Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
I had no problems playing the first portal on XBox 360 (don't worry, I could play that on PC as well, and did, but the extra levels on XBox 360 had me interested) so I'm sure this one will work out OK as well.
Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
My desktop PC is an Athlon 2800+ with Radeon 9800 Pro that I didn't even bother unboxing after I moved away from Gouda. The fastest PC in the house right now is my laptop which I think has a 2.4GHz Pro Duo in there and some Radeon GPU. The thing is, Left 4 Dead 2 runs okay but framerates do tend to drop a bit from time to time. Another game I've been playing on there, Mirror's Edge, runs kind of crappy actually. I didn't want to run the risk of having to play Portal 2 with 3 frames a second so I opted for the XBox version.Plan B wrote:Dude, I'm surprised you're able to post here if you can't even match thatsome shitty site that came up first when googling portal 2 system requirements wrote:The follow are the official system requirements (according to Steam):

I was referring more to myself there, as in I couldn't imagine myself being able to do it. I guess the XBox 360 version is fine, if that's all you can afford.Eraser wrote:I had no problems playing the first portal on XBox 360 (don't worry, I could play that on PC as well, and did, but the extra levels on XBox 360 had me interested) so I'm sure this one will work out OK as well.

Re: Portal 2 in Februari!
done. mindblowing game, thats not just the enthousiasm talking.
the ending is epic, and the epilogue made me shiver
:[
people who claim they beat it in 3 hours are full of it. the amount of spoken dialogue is huge so either they skipped everything and now have absolutely no idea what the game is about + used a guide to solve everything at the first go, or their steam clock is borked.
or use the handle "o'dium".
