I'm a lot more excited about Sony's 3DTV that lets two people play full screen multiplayer games, with their screens kept distinct from one another through the use of glasses. So instead of swtching rapidly from one eye to the other, they switch rapidly from one set of glasses to the other. Sounds pretty nifty. It's something like $550 for the TV and two pairs of glasses, probably not something I'd be interested in buying anytime soon. Great idea though.

Higher spec than the 360/PS3, which is all we need right now for at least another 3 or 4 years anyway.

The actual ideas this thing can do are fucking awesome, just think outside the box for a second other than HUDs and maps.

Plus the fact its a pressure sensitive bluetooth tablet means on PC, this thing can be hacked to do GODS WORK. I know I'll be loading this up into Mud Box asap.

The point is, yes, a lot of games will make it utterly useless, but thing of the ones that don't... I think it has the potential to be utterly mind blowing.

Those fucking slide buttons need to sod off mind you... And flip the right slide/buttons around.
However, the released data gives away very little about the performance of the console, omitting any kind of detail on the graphics chip utilised and the make-up of the IBM CPU.
Rumour has it that dev's are having to redevelop games to run on this because it is not as powerful as the xbox and ps3.
Also all game footage shown was taken from the xbox, ps3 and pc.

iPhone, PSP Vita

Both use multi touch screens to good effect. Nintendo are releasing a console that is out of date before they even start, which is a shame as it has great potential.

looks uncomfortable and gimmicky, it will die quickly and people will just use the wiimote.

I like the idea of using the Wii controller as the primary display so you aren't always stuck to a TV. Especially brilliant for families.

Another Nintendo console i'm not remotely interested in. That controller looks HIDEOUS to use too.

The fact all the footage so far has been on the 360/PS3 is also lol.

But i'm sure they'll sell loads cos of the eventual Mario/Zelda games. Then flood us with a load of third party shite that only middle aged women enjoy. Ah, Nintendo.

wow what a great idea! Theoretically speaking they could add more signals with additional glasses synced respectively...4 players getting the full effect on a signle tv set  ...with awesome high refresh rate tv, and processing power permitting.

too bad that tv is only 24in :\

as for the nintendo stuff, i've been seeing positive initial impressions to the controller in regards to the hands-on feel. i think this new hardware has potential to be really good but at the same time i'll definitely be taking a 'wait and see' approach to it all. my biggest concern is the size of the controller and storing the damn thing. it's pretty bulky and i could see that screen getting fucked up no matter how hard you try to take care of it.

I love the idea of the Wii U. I really don't care about the specs or all that. It's just the simple fact they are trying a new idea that has a ton of potential. It might take a couple versions to get it right, but I can't wait to play a game like Fallout on something like this....

Yep. It's a great prototype pilot for the concept though. Technology always gets better, smaller and cheaper. Eventually, you'd expect this sort of customizable [i.e. flitting between 2 pairs of glasses instead of left/right on a single pair] hoojamambob to work with any 3DTV with a high enough refresh rate.

Dunno, I was hoping anyone who's been following E3 closely would be able to tell us more about any hamhanded annoucements they've made.

I bet that thing processes the game on the main box and streams the video to the device... pretty awesome since the handheld will benefit from having the same quality of graphics as the main display.

Cloud Computing. look into it.

MS said we will be able to have our savegames stored in the cloud instead of locally.

I guess that's a good thing when yet another RROD shows up.
I do hope they don't use it as an excuse to make XBox Live Gold subscriptions more expensive, but I reckon it will be a service only available to gold members.

Wii U controller update!!!
While earlier dalliances with the Wii U's "WiiPad" controller didn't include touchscreen interaction, a hands-on session with the "Measure Up" tech demo told me all I needed to know about the touchscreen technology behind the device.

It has a stylus. A recess in the upper left of the unit hides a small, white, roughly DS Lite-size stylus. Interacting with it brings up the familiar feeling of poking at a DS screen. Much like the handheld's bottom screen, the Wii U touchscreen doesn't respond perfectly to tracing with a finger. And multitouch is right out. Touching two spots caused the line I was drawing to jump to a point between them, much like the DS

That suggests that Nintendo opted for a cheaper resistive touchscreen, instead of a capacitive touchscreen like the iPhone uses.
All your hopes and dreams of what this controller could be have just been shattered.

Hehe, of course I know it's about cloud computing.
I just wanted you to elaborate on what that means for the xbox platform.

Your example sounds kind of weak and trivial, tbh. And taking into account all the recent playstation hackage, local storage may be the way to go for now?
