This isn't a spectacular image, but I thought it would make a great texture for a game. It's just a shop floor that looks like it's been painted a few times and worn down...

it's just the telescope strapped to the mount, and i use a remote shutter. There isn't really anything to move the setup except me, which happens when i lose my balance like an idiot lol

from last night:

I thought this part in the middle looked like the Cobra logo from gi joe

a mountain range i guess
Image

seremtan i guess it does look like a flyby, didn't see it until you mentioned that. this one came out in better focus. lvlshot'd

Is this the real man in the moon???? .. the shadowy figure.. :)
Image

I'm trying to get the shadowy edges mostly, eventually i want to merge all the shadow parts to make a composite shadow moon. going to be tough though, especially with no pictures from tonight because of clouds (and tiredness)

from the track visit on the 9th

yes this is what you think it is
Image

if there wasn't other people in this one it would be my favorite

about 6 of these were there
Image

yep... almost a quarter million bux

the night images are difficult to get especially without a flash (which i don't know how to use, or own anyways. for now... will be getting one soon). have to crank the iso and really lay the noise correction on thick in lightroom which kind of smudges things but they still come out kind of decent i think.

I went to the June Night Drag Races at Dumont Dunes (Mojave Desert, California). There was just enough wind to fuck up your shots, even with a tripod.

Some of the more interesting ones:

Image
(This place is miles and miles of dunes btw)

Image
(We arrived just past peak lighting, will have to come back soon during the day)

Image
(Someone brought a big spot light for the event. If only there were 2 of them....)

Image
(A few guys were racing without lights. I drove around myself and had a hard time telling where the dune ends. Ballsy....)

Image
(Moon lighting!)

Today is a good day for getting stuff in the mail, the 580ex2 i ordered got here today, as well as the last piece of the puzzle needed to use the tele-extender on the telescope. Time to learn how to use this flash really well :)

here are some zoom examples:
70mm lens
Image

telescope, prime focus with the extender looking at the very top (furthest away) roof
Image

25mm eyepiece, non extended
Image

25mm, extended
Image

and this is with the 9mm piece but i cant remember if it was extended or not
Image

so some big time magnification coming up, it is going to be stupid hard to focus lol

first shot with flash, yay.. bounced it off the cieling

used the flash how i wanted to on the waterdrops, instead of being forced to use the popup. came out much nicer.

Andy that water drop is nicely done. What did you use for the colors? What lens are you shooting with there?

thx, the original color was red since the bowl was red, and then i put 3 gradauted filters on it in lightroom plus other tweaks. Played with the settings just to see what would turn out. Lens was the 24-70 @ 70mm

i would love a good camera, it would make my work so much easier rather than having to hunt down images on image farms, that i have to pay for and are not ever exactly what i was envisioning for the project at hand.

Sort of a self portrait done for a local little publication that needed a picture of me awhile back.

You'd hit it....smug bastard.

Image

And with the drudging up of old shots, I'm looking around for the pic hybrid love child that GKY and myself had. I thought I had it in a special album for posterity...but I guess not. :tear:

Since there are only a handful of us left should we have one final mugshot thread to see what we have devolved into as this place approached its twilight years...? Maybe not. Or at least for an updated photoshop thread like the 'shove everyone's head into one car' picture...

New camera coming down the pipe... anyone heard of it yet? Looks to be a very cool little invention...
...The technique is called "light field capture" which records various aspects of a light ray such as color, intensity, and direction. Regular cameras, Lytro says, merely record all the light rays without discerning the subtleties.

The result is that you can easily snap images and adjust them for focus and other attributes after the fact on your PC, according to Lytro. You can do things like switch the photo's point of focus from the foreground to the background, change the image's perspective and even switch the photo from a 2D to a 3D image...
http://www.pcworld.com/article/230966/5 ... tures.html

I think a major selling point for this will be the after-the-fact focus-point shifting. You could snag a ton of super quick photos of a sports scene and then pick the best shot later and focus it exactly how you need. Anyone got spare money for stocks? Invest in these guys.

I'd heard of that focus-shifting tech yesterday and was going to post it, but then I saw a cheeseburger and forgot everything.
