Prop departments have budgets, too.
Re: lol?
what I find interesting is that those can't be the exact copy of newspaper they are using. It's as if they go ut of the way to print the same one out over and over? this might be a camera filter, but Al bundies newspaper seems to be aged and yellow yet, in some of the newer shows it's bright white.MKJ wrote:thats actually pretty awesome.
who notices this, I wonder.
Could they have possibly bought up a bunch of them at some point and kept them shielded from the elements?
Re: lol?
It's also a paper without front page apparently, as some are holding the photo of the woman on the inside while others have it on the outside. The third image of the first column is especially interesting because the photo is near the outside margin of the page while all other pictures have the photo near the inside margin of the page.

it's just the way it's folded.Eraser wrote:It's also a paper without front page apparently, as some are holding the photo of the woman on the inside while others have it on the outside. probably. they had some designer mock up a paper and they're still printing them.Tsakali wrote:what I find interesting is that those can't be the exact copy of newspaper they are using. it's not like you can read the headlines or whatnot.
they do the same with carplates.. lots of cars on tv have the same plates.
cheaper ey
Re: lol?
They can't use a real newspaper or show someone's face without license, so the newspaper is like a stock photo for props. It's pretty common for this kind of stuff in Hollywood, among other things such as the Wilhelm scream.

Re: lol?
there's also a sound effect of a driver in a passing car pounding the horn, complete with doppler effect, that gets used in endless city scenes
oh, and a squeaky door/gate effect i swear i remember from HL2 (on account of mapping for said game and making a lot of squeaky doors/gates)

Re: lol?
especially when they pop up in AAA-grade shows like the Wire, that are strong on realism, and suddenly you hear a background noise you've heard in every movie/videogame for the last 10 years
speaking of the Wire: there was a scene where Omar ambushes some corner boys in an alley, and marches up on them with his double-barrelled shotgun - then from off screen you hear the infamous 'tch-tch' sound as he cocks it. d/b turns magically into pump action? wtf?

Re: lol?
Yeah lol, happens to me as well... only i seem to pick up, remember and catalogue sound way better than visual stuff. Last one i remember was a forest scene in GoT, some birds singing in the background - totally pulled me out of my fantasy immersion for a second because of recognizing the sample from twelfty gazillion other series / films
