I haven't yet. However, the live shows are always fantastic. I flew to San Antonio, TX to catch the last tour. Totally worth it!

Thanks man. I've been out of the gym for a few months now but I'm looking forward to getting back to it this week. You still in BJJ?
Nah, been out of it for quite some time. It was the herniated disc in my neck that initially took me out, then being too far from the dojo and all the divorce bullshit, then of course blowing out my knee last year. But, the good news is that I get my house back at the end of August. A certain bitter, angry cow has to moooove out and so I'll be living only six miles from the dojo again. I need to hit the gym in a big way, I didn't stick with the rehab therapy for my knee, so it's in piss-poor shape, just like my cardio. I'll be training again by the fall.

What did you do to lose the tonnage?

It was pretty awesome, thanks for asking. There are plans to return this december when there's a PostGraduate Anesthesia Assembly meeting in the Marriott Marquis. There's so much to explore.

Good to hear you'll be able to get back to training in the fall and that you won the house back. How rough is the knee these days? Are you planning on getting back to some rehab on it before starting into BJJ again?

I lost the weight by lifting 3-4 days a week starting with generic Mens Health workouts then moving on to Alwyn Cosgrove's New Rules of Lifting programs then a couple by Mark Verstegen from his Core Performance series and last year a couple by Mark Ripptoe focusing a lot on squats and deads. Other than that it was just making sure at least 80% of my meals were healthy choices. I've barely been in the gym the past 6 months though so getting back into the groove and building up the cardio and strength again this next 2 months is going to suck horribly but it serves me right for slacking off. I'm going to be working through 6 weeks of Ripptoes's Starting Strength to get back up to speed and then will be starting into Robert dos Remedios' Power Training programs for the rest of the year.

Yeah, I absolutely have to do some serious work on my knee and my back is problematic as well (bulging disc). That Ripptoe book looks like a good place to start, I'm so out of shape it's disgusting. I really didn't do myself any favors by not doing some sort of rehab for my knee, it hurts a fair bit when I lock it out and it feels weak most of the time. I was reading a review of Starting Strength and it sounds like it focuses on core, back, and leg strength, which is just what I need.

I can't even run with my wife because my knee hurts too much right now. I have to get on the elliptical or something equally faggy for a while before I can run again, which sucks because I actually like to run.

Of course, I can't do shit at the moment because I'm stuck in Mexico until tomorrow...
