I kinda thought the maps have been more structured as of late, however I suspect that the way notch codes it allows for some areas of the map to be erratic whereas other areas of the map are more linear. Maybe the Minecraft globe is a cube? :olo:

The Map is here http://minecraft.giraffe-hunter.com

Here are a few screenies

The huge currently empty castle, we kept a 2 block space in the walls and between each floor so we can run redstone circuits for traps and also so we can customize the room interior without affecting the other rooms or exterior.

Prison Yard in the castle soon to be a hedge maze and outside shot from the mine road

This is the inn that took a few weeks to complete and fill every room, it's complete with a pool, restaurant and top floor deck, also roller coaster and water slide, there is also a wharf town surrounding the inn

Lighthouse with house on top with views of sunrise and set

Ship and Biodome shot

I know its an actual map of the world on the website but I wouldnt be surprised if it also is used to connect to the server.

minecarts are good, riding as well as storage carts delivering items to trunks. It may be the minecart mainia mod because it sucked before I started using it.

I'll look into a permissions mod soon so I can start inviting outside people without having to worry about our hard work being destroyed, I wouldn't mind having some of you creative bastards adding to the world.

I've been getting the same, an hour of play usually means a drop or two.

had a google: is this an issue with the server running out of memory? apparently java will do that

another suggestion is that the server is down, but this seems unlikely since it's possible to log in, sometimes play for a while ok, other times drop through the world when no chunks load (or only a few)

I noticed that there's now a hell world. This might have increase memory usage to the point that it gets overwhelmed. I changed memory settings so that it does page to disk, let me know of further problems you run into.

yeah there's that and there's also my (moderately) epic journeys out into the wilderness exploring. surely chunks that are not being displayed should be flushed? or am i not understanding the finer points of java?

end of stream, seremtan?

Also, mjrpes, were you and mrd really super far apart? If you're in the same general region I think the server has an easier time since it only has to load one set of chunks once to be shared among users in the region. Being super far apart, there're unique regions for each person that has to be kept track of by the server for changes. At least that's what I think's going on and why things are breaking.
