quite. i mean, it was just a fat swedish neckbeard making it until said basement goblin realised he was getting rich and decided to hire some equally inept people to help out. i hope there's a MC2, and that notch makes the smart move of letting an actual game studio employing competent people make it into the game MC should have been

Overview map:

http://mc.quake3world.com/mcmap-1.8/

Guys, I think the problem with rendering the previous map was the large size. This map took 5 minutes to render; the previous one took 2 hours. If you can hold in your urge to explore 10,000 blocks in all directions, then daily map updates shouldn't be a problem.

excellent. the epic forest isn't as epic as it looks

also: you might need to update the mapping program for 1.8, as i notice a number of textures are missing (i.e. the entire walls of silicone's spawn safety zone and my japanese castle foundation just left and down from it)

nope

in any case, my eyes have had enough of hi-res sets. lack of mipmapping makes the middle to far distance horribly scratchy

Map textures are displaying properly now. You may need to clear your browser cache to see the changes.

I've been following this thread, and I really like the concept.
It's just the poor blocky graphics that put me off, shallow whore that I am, but I understand its necessity;
Higher graphic fidelity would lead to all kinds of crap to take into account, crippling accessibility.

But fuck it, I'll probably join this weekend.
My excuses in advance.

just out of curiosity: is anyone at all playing in survival mode?

just wondering, because if there is i might build a mob trap tower in that park next to the spawn, which will serve the dual function of producing loads of goodies, as well as giving mobs somewhere useful to spawn instead of in caves (since the surface is lit up like a xmas tree)
