woot map attempt #2

Post by _woot_ »

So I took advice and started over at making a map. Hopefully this map will be better than the first. If any of you guys have q3 installed can you take a look and give me grief on things I did wrong, or could have did better. Not much caulking or hinting has been done yet so dont cry too much about that. I got the pk3 for download here, and I have added 2 videos for lazy people and people without quake 3.

normal light video: (hard to see)

I have to be brief, in a hurry.

Some quick notes:
Your 2 YA's are very close together. (which is also close to a MH, MH+YA is fine, but 2 YA's that close is a bit much)

There's a couple of really long corridors, the overall length of the map can probably be condensed.

The YA room with tele is pretty bland gameplay wise, not a whole lot of options. Only 1 option if keeping silent. The other 2 are tele and jumppad.

Work on your lighting asap, shouldn't need to watch a fullbright video to see what's going on :)

I haven't actually taken a run around, just watched the vids, which are a great idea for having to encourage people to check out a map quickly. :)

Here is a video of a new version with your guys suggestions.

* shorter and less hallways
* removed a jump pad and replaced with stairs to make another silent exit.
* worked on lighting a bit to brighten it up.
* Tried to smooth out theme of textures from room to room.
