Battlefield 3
Re: Battlefield 3

You're looking at this from a programmer's point of viewEraser wrote:It's simple to answer that: Creating any sort of release for a game takes time. It takes a lot of time. People always assume that, for instance, demos of a game can be released "just like that" [imagine someone snapping his fingers here] but it's not. I guess that at some point they made a snapshot of the codebase and assets and built a release out of that. While they were doing that, the rest of the development team continued fixing bugs and issues which didn't end up in the beta code because that would delay the beta again.

From a marketing sales standpoint that ain't no answer to Tsakali's question... releasing a product takes time, sure. That's why there's people who plan and decide when who works on what. But somehow those people ended up purposefully releasing a crippled product, which is obviously damaging to future sales and corporate image

Re: Battlefield 3
I don't think releasing betas has as much to do with the programmers being able to ask the community to track down bugs so much as for the marketing department to get a feel for how the game will launch.
Seriously, how helpful do you think 99.9% of the people giving feedback are able to do so in any form that will benefit the developers? You just get lots of bitching and moaning, whereas real bug reports need concrete data about system specs and reproducible steps. The only thing that will benefit developers is putting their game servers on load to see how it stands up to full game traffic.

confirmed...this statement is not true...Transient wrote:The beta is using a version of the game that's 2 months older than the version they are working on for launch day, so there's every chance the big bugs people are bitching about were fixed weeks ago.

7. repeat for twenty minutes, and you have bf3
yeah its n00bs like this that let me run up and knife them in the face 10x in a row because they don't know how to play. Somehow thats the games fault that they're bad, can't identify the enemy, die all the time, don't know how to properly utilize your class, work with the team or pick a proper spawn point...oh and re-spawn is 10 seconds.

Your link doesn't... link. Not to Battlefield 3 anyway. Navigating to it from that link shows it at $50...brisk wrote:Up for sale at the cheapest price i've seen @ GMG

Re: Battlefield 3
Yeah, it's on sale at Origin for £40 I think. You can get it cheaper retail/boxed, which is the most retarded thing ever. GMG is the cheapest digital site selling it though and their conversion to Euro is right, unlike steam.
Re: Battlefield 3
wow, 8 pages of you QQ'ing about the game and then you're linking places to buy it so you can get referrals. christ, you're a retard.
Re: Battlefield 3
didn't you say the beta had nothing to do with the quality of the final game?
make your mind up, champ.
