PC gaming alone (not including XBox/PS) is $16.2 billion and grew a shit-ton last year over the previous which was a paltry $11 billion. This is more than any of the console and portable systems from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Just in North America and Western Europe the PC is the leading platform with over $6 billion in combined revenue from just those markets. All the consoles combined generate about $10 billion more revenue than the PC, but the PC is still the single largest of any platform. World of Warcraft does $1 billion all by itself, while the two latest CoD games did $1 billion on all platforms combined. Anything with these kinds of numbers is not a "dying breed".

These are times of record profits for PC games. With everyone on board with digital distribution (or at least their version of it) the spigot of cash will not be drying up anytime soon, particularly since nearly every single PC user on the planet has a gaming system right in front of them.

Have these stats been broken down into game genres? PC game sales might be huge, but what type of games are selling most? I would imagine MMORPGs are selling more than FPS. And FPS are probably selling more on consoles? That would lead me to justify why id has moved to the console scene. That's where the majority of their genre players lie. This is just speculation of course. I'm sure you'll reply back on the contrary...

I was very exciting about the patch but as it turns out it fucks up my mouse and the in game menu's are very difficult to navigate. Turning off mouse smoothing has been locked. It runs better though. Outside scenes are drop dead gorgeous. Very beautifully crafted. Too bad that all the assets are a blurry mess. Now with the current mouse problems I'm having [menu's difficult to navigate, shooting too slow] it's still unplayable. After 5 days of messing around I give up. Because if I continue this I'm going to snap eventually.
