Quake 2 questions.

Post by bork[e] »

I've found what I need, but like I found out starting in Quake 3 editing there is always something different/better that can be used.

First off I go to Radian't site and pick the version 1.4.0. Then I'm greated with the below:

Image

- Can I use the same editor I use for Quake 3 or is that bottom version better for Quake 2?
- What is the best compiler for this game, is there something like a q2map2 or something?
- Can I use q3map2 Toolz linked to whatever comipler I have for quake 2, or is there another front end I should be using?

That's all I can think of atm...tia.

Kaziganthe wrote:Ehh. I don't really remember where I got all of the compilers and stuff, but I do know that you'll want to be using 1.5.0 for q2. Although it doesn't support certain q2 editing features, it's you're best bet, as 1.4.0 is generally buggy when handling textures.
1.4.0 is buggy with all games, or just :q2: ?

1.4.0 always worked like a charm for me on :q3:-engine games, so I think he may have meant just :q2:

Okay, so any texture problems I have with :q3: engine games are a result of my noobness. Thx. :)
