Digital Camera software

Post by corpse »

I got a friend who has a Kodak digital camera and easy share software for it. Hes not setting the camera right becasue when he downloads images onto the computer it re-writes existing photos and makes copies of them. First image and then first image_001, first image_002 etc. He has about 10 copies of each image.

About a week ago, we went through and deleted all the copies so that just the original image was left.

TOday he called me and there are now thousands of images in this easy share program and he hasnt downloaded any new stuff from the camera.

When we hit ctl, alt, del it shows about 12 processes running for easy share.

Would you guys assume that this program is malfunctioning or is a virus in there. Virus scan shows nothing.

I'm guessing that the best thing is to delete that program and reinstall.

first thing i would do is uinstall the program, and double check that registry keys were also gone. then, go to Kodak's site and get the latest v. of said program. kablamo.

Easyshare is fucking horrendous software.

If the camera can be seen as a drive letter (plug it in, look at My Computer) then forget about easyshare altogether and use something like Picasa.

I was just about to say that you can install Google's Picasa.
Then hook up your camera while Picasa is running and you can import it right into the program.

Picasa is quite nice. Reminds me of Apple iPhoto, only for XP.

Didn't mean only XP, I meant its similar to iPhoto, except for the the fact it will run on Windows.

I'm not too fancy on how it organizes the files.
