emule

Post by DRuM »

This can be moved to TnT but I figure I may get more answers here.
Anyone use it? I'm getting very slow to nothing on downloads. The port tests keep failing at the TCP bit. As far as I know they're open, and I've even tried with the firewall off and I don't have a router either. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's reading the wrong ip address. The ip number that it comes up with when the test fails is different from the ip number when I do ipconfig at a command prompt. Any ideas? I did get some small part of a download, yet emule says when the test fails, emule only works for people downloading from me and that I can't download from others. I think that's what it meant. So I dunno.

Yeah, that page says my ip is 82.14.83.153

And the port test page says:
Testing IP: manc-cache-7.server.ntli.net (62.252.192.10)

Starting TCP connection test...
TCP test failed! UDP test will not be performed.

No idea how to get emule to test on 82.14.83.153

Nope, exactly the same as yours, except where mine says download and download limit, the figures are 64 and 51kb.
If it's testing the wrong ip, perhaps that doesn't necessarily mean emule isn't working properly? Is emule just very slow? I'm getting fast speeds on limewire by comparison.

their servers could be slow. i'm reading complaints in their forums about this same thing. tcp fails, but you still get downloads, albeit slow.

btw, that's not my emule, i don't use the sh*t, that's from their site.

I've been using emule for a year, and I've never had a download go above 20kb/s. It's a shitty program, but it's got so much stuff on there you just have ot put up with it.

Heh...
I was just about to ask about emule today -- whether it was worth using, if anyone still used it, how well it works, etc.

Guess I'll just give it a try anyway. I wonder if the IT guys here at work will notice if I install and use it. :icon26:

nah, you have to give it some time before the downloads start. Don't worry, your porn will be complete one day.

I usually queue up about 10gigs of games, porn, movies etc and just minimize it for a week. Most of it will be dfone in that time. Downloads take really fucking long to start though.

This is a screenie of my current activity. All those numbers next to QR, that is gonna take a very long time I reckon.
