oh the wonders of nature :icon19:SplishSplash wrote:The riddle is solved.
Crows eat the toads' livers without actually killing them. (Must be the tastiest part.)
Toads pump up their lungs when in danger, to appear more intimidating. Without the livers, the lungs can expand beyond their natural limits, which eventually leads to the *pop* phenomenon.

Not likely (unless you're being sarcastic). Toad lungs aren't large enough to take in that much air, and the diaphragm can't take in air quickly enough to explode the animal. I'd suspect either a chemical reaction in the toads' gut due to something they eat, or some sort of defense mechanism.SplishSplash wrote:The riddle is solved.

The hognose snake will first mimic a cobra...if that's doesn't scare off an enemy, he flips over on his back and plays dead:

Of course, being the reptilian equivalent of a moron, if you flip him right side up while he's playing dead, he'll quickly flip back over on his back and resume his acting. Ya know, cause he's still supposed to be dead n' all. Many human actors could learn a few things from this level of commitment.

We have a bunch of those around here. And yep, that's exactly what they do.Hannibal wrote:The hognose snake will first mimic a cobra...if that's doesn't scare off an enemy, he flips over on his back and plays dead:
