When sprinting, you travel at ~5.6m/sec. So if your path was flat (you didn't have to climb mountains or swim across water), and you didn't have to eat food, traveling 30,000km would take about 1,488 hours I believe? That's 62 full 24 hour days of nonstop travel over perfectly smooth terrain.

Good luck with that.

at least there's a version available with 1.2 that has mipmapping.
yeah, which i had to turn off because mipmapping w/o AA looks worse than having neither (especially the glass)

a tree mod that makes every tree big would rule

how about one of those trees mods that brings down the whole tree when you break the bottom block? i think there's one called Timber! - but not sure if it works in SMP tho

edit: on closer inspection Timber requires modloader. fffuuu-

OK installed 2 mods:

1. Fastgrow - Trees grow 10 seconds after you plant a sapling. Set the chance of growing into a big tree to 100%. Did a test with 12 saplings. Most grew into big tree but some didn't. There is a quirk where, when it grows, all you see if a one block stump. There rest of the tree is there, but you can't see it. If you log out and back you see the full tree.

2. TreeAssist - Cut all the wood blocks off a tree when you break the base. This seems to work as advertised, but occassionally doesn't break an outlying wood block on a massive tree.

Yeah the physics are getting all screwed up when they get stuck too. They kind of ghost through the glass and can't attack but can still collide with you and push you off the top...

ok i had a try at fixing it, but they still pile up there, and i'm damned if i can see why. they just seem to glitch through the glass and ghost up and down the channel

is mbox working? building a new one would be a fun project...

I wonder if you could build one where the spawners are directly above you. The mobs fall down and collect into a hole right above you.

That could work with cave spider spawners (as they have less health than other mobs). They only need to fall 14m to be left with 1/2 a heart, though probably safer to have the fall be 13 meters.

Just keep in mind you have to be within 16 meters for the spawner to be active.
