No, I don't think it's possible to mod the PS2 game.

Since Q3 will run on virtually any PC system, why don't you just get a couple of copies of the PC version? Playing Q3 on a console is blasphemy anyway.

the computer i have and play q3 on is pretty old, it runs q3 without a problem on high graphic settings at stable 125fps. its a amd 3.0 processor, 1gb ram and 256mb graphics card and when i last checked almost a year ago i could find a bunch of similar ones on the net selling for around 50euros. my monitor is a syncmaster 959nf and i run it on 160hz for the best quake experience. thoose i saw on the net also went for around 50euros. people really dont value them anymore since lcds have replaced them so many years ago..

so if you look around the net you can definitely find such a setup for 100 dollars if you try a little. this machine wont run the modern games but it will do everything else. you can run all the games prior to 2006 without a problem, run all ps2 games with an emulator. every kind of software that you can imagine, audio/video editing, graphics design programs. this will be older versions but its still all good.

Dumpster diving can probably yield enough parts to put something together. :)

Heck, just my basement probably has enough parts for at least two full computers that will run Q3.
