I like the fact that my 1ghz PB now feels much faster with Tiger, brilliant upgrade and shows just what Apple can do withing an 18 month timeframe. I expect 10.5 will be the dog's bollocks. Tho I don't like the fact Logic (7.0.1) crashes I get when 'saving as a project' (both on the PB and the G5).

And don't get me started on Apple's paper launch of (Logic) 7.1 seeing as I ordered it 2 days before it was officially announced and it's been delayed twice so far :/

Funnily enough, Tiger seems to have got rid of my Logic crashes!

I did a thorough cache clear-out on 10.3, and an archive and install on 10.4, might have done the trick.

Never upgrade unless you havent added much to the system, and use it for stuff like web browsing, word processing, and music playing.

Why can I only get the US yellow pages though?

Do the more widgets... in dashboard, and there should be a few other country yellow pages listed.

Best way is really to do an archive and install rather than upgrade (you can choose to keep your home library), 'cos you'll get a faster system at the end of it (for example, because of the way I upgraded, my G5 had a bunch of obsolete system and preference files from as far back as my original lime iMac!), but the other way is:
Logic infoweb wrote: OS: X: Kernel Panic after OS X update or audio hardware change

Product: Platinum, Gold, Audio, Pro, Express
Version: 6.x, 5.x

Description:
When starting Logic (or the AudioMidi Setup) the computer crashes with a kernel panic. The problem only occurs sometimes and is hard to sort out.

Explanation:
The problem can occur after an OS X update, after installing new audio drivers or changing the audio hardware. The old drivers are still present in the system cache.

Suggestion:
NOTE: Please only perform the following steps if you have the necessary experience. In case of doubt please contact your apple dealer.

Try to solve the problem by deleting the files /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and
/System/Library/Extensions.mkext. Therefore you need to be logged in the Terminal.app as administrator.
The commands to delete the files are:

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
reboot

After deleting and restarting fresh copies of the files will be created by the system.

n1, I'll take a look.

Normally the routines I run are repair persmissions before and after a software install and sudo periodic daily/weekly/monthly.

Ther are some new drivers for the 828 MK2 out too I may take a look at.

A lot of the improvements in Tiger (let's forget 200+ new features) are under the hood and would take more than a play in the Apple Store to fully appreciate. My 1ghz Powerbook feels like it got a speedbump to 1.33 or something.

That's what we have. You originally had 10.2 or 10.3 on it? I'm wondering because we're still on 10.2.8... :paranoid:

10.3.9 beforehand. But it's the Powerbook that's seen the greatest improvement all round. The G5 (dual 2.0, 1.5gb ram) feels snappier/more responsive rather than much faster.
