Watch Dogs
The Rainbow6 Patriots project I was working on is getting retooled and most of the team, including myself, were reassigned to other projects here in Montreal. So...I'm now working on this, which was officially announced at yesterday's E3 Ubi press conference.
The basic idea is a large, GTAish open world game - set in near-future Chicago - in which you can hack the city and fuck shit up.
Here's more info and a trailer which explains the background of the game.

Here's the gameplay vid. It's all in-game from the playable demo, so nothing's pre-rendered. If you ask which generation of consoles it'll be on, my answer is, "yes".

Looks awesome.
There's already some people interpreting stuff in that trailer as an ARG, though. Sigh.

Re: Watch Dogs
Fucking aye that was good...next xbox FTW!!
And while that did look amazing, I would be interested to see how it actually plays in the real world.

Re: Watch Dogs
It's almost too good to be true. Part of me wonders if it was just a scripted stage demo and the final game will be nothing like it.

This is the first thing I thought of too.Memphis wrote:Depends if they shit DRM all over it
At what point will you know if they're using their bullshit always-on DRM, with server-side saves, etc. in this single player (I assume?) game? Or is that some shit they spring on you last second?

Shit like this deserves to be piratedPsyche911 wrote:This is the first thing I thought of too.Memphis wrote:Depends if they shit DRM all over it

Re: Watch Dogs
That looks amazing. If the whole game is like that, I'm in.
Re: Watch Dogs
The car accident was fucking amazing. What I'm wondering though is if it's a scripted accident. If you can cause accidents and pileups like that at will then that's an amazing game mechanic. If it's scripted not so much.
In GTA you can cause pileups but they don't have that believable feel to them in Crackdown 1 you could snipe car tires on the highway and produce fairly impressive crashes and pileups but again, the ai in the cars had none of that believable reaction to an accident.
Any comments GKY or is this non disclosure material?

Re: Watch Dogs
Ubisoft Montreal producer Dominic Guay feels flattered by the whispers of suspicion surrounding Watch Dogs, a new third-person, open-world action game from Ubisoft. After an impressive debut at Ubisoft's E3 2012 press conference, Watch Dogs left viewers questioning whether its sophisticated environments and lighting (among other things) are a realistic match for current consoles. The official line is that it's coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Speaking to Joystiq, Guay confirmed that the E3 demo is running on PC, but emphasized that Ubisoft Montreal is interested in getting Watch Dogs on "all the platforms we can." That means Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions "for sure," Guay said. A Wii U version is still up in the air.
It's easy to imagine Ubisoft releasing a scaled-down, optimized version of Watch Dogs, positioned to take advantage of the large, established audience on current consoles. It's even easier to envision the futuristic property popping up in Ubisoft's typical barrage of launch games for a new system. Both scenarios could play out by the time Watch Dogs ships, sometime after 2012.

Re: Watch Dogs
I guess I missed the point of the game. It looks cool, but what's the overall objective?
