been doing some strength training while keeping body weight low as an experiment. On friday did 4 unassisted reps + 1 assisted rep of 80 pounds dumbell presses. Gonna be stepping up the weighted dips and chins to 100 pounds, and gonna try to get to 125 pound one arm dumbell rows by mid-end of april. am at 155 lb bodyweight.

So I've been trying to lift some actual weights the last month...trying to push my 1RM as high as possible in a short time to see if it has an effect on my WODs...I'm getting on quite well for my size and lack of weight. Random figures for random shit below. I'm going to revisit these movements at the end of April after a month on the paleo diet and some hard training.

Dead lift - 3RM - 125kg
Front squat - 1RM - 90kg
Back squat - 1RM - 110kg
Over head squat - 1RM - 50kg
Snatch - 1RM - 55kg
Cleans - 1RM - 80kg
Push Press - 1RM - 65kg

Hoping to add at least 10kg to each of those (the OHS which I really struggle with will be a challenge - I have the leg strength but can't lock my shoulders out properly)

Donny don't worry about a max snatch and clean until your technique isn't holding you back

Yeah I need to work on my snatch tekkers to be honest, they are poor. My clean ain't too bad...I think I have 80kg in me at the moment, but I dunno how bad it would be tekkers wise.

Fucking madness. But awesome if you're up to it.
Have you got any road running experience? Just 12 miles of running on a well paved road is quite an achievement, never mind doing it in the dirt and with all sorts of obstacles.

Been back training for just over two months and loving the progress so far.

Shoulder pressed 90kg for 5 reps last week, at the same time, a guy with a Swastika tattoo was on the squat rack maxing out with 90kg. Very satisfying equalling his puny squat with my God-like shoulder press.

170lbs at the moment. Never going to see 240 again, but will be happy with a lean 185.

Strict presses?
I am at 70kg 1RM and thats not strict for push presses. My training was destroyed after I opened my should up and I have struggled to get into a routine again since. From Wednesday I should be back properly.

Sadly I am no where near the shape I need to be in to do this due to injuries and it is 3 weeks away.
So basically I have 3 weeks to learn to run distances and get my general fitness back up to somewhere resembling where I was 6 weeks ago

Also the most I have ever run is 3 1/2 miles, simply because I get bored with road pounding

I see. I've done a number of 5K runs and am training to do a 10K now. I'm doing 50min to 1hr interval trainings. 10K is probably as far as I'll go though, because I expect to be doing that in roughly an hour or so and I'd probably get bored after that amount of time as well.

It's not really advisable to press strictly once you move past 60kg in my opinion.. I keep it relatively strict, but I like to give it a bit of a shunt with my calves at the start of each rep. It's more of a power press; I use momentum to get it from my collarbone to my chin, and then keep my form strict from there on before letting it drop again once it gets to my chin.

Strict form is a bit dangerous on shoulder presses, you're shredding your rotators at certain parts of the movement, so a bit of momentum helps decrease the weight during the stressful part of the press.

focusing on low weights for a long time, changing positions and weight regularly, building up strength. lean athletic build. easy. win.

Interesting. I have been practicing hand stand push ups in a bid to up my push presses (and also try to get an unassisted HSPU so working my core)
While you don't go down to your shoulders, well I dont get as I am doing it hands on floor, would this cause the same movements?

I doubt they're dangerous, because you can only technically go as low as the top of your head, so you're probably still taking most of the weight on your shoulders.

If you want to increase your push press then it's all about taking the lift over to the smith machine where you can break the lift down into portions and figure out where you're weakest.
