So the government says that if they turn into tyrants, you have the right to take up arms against them? First of all, why would I need the government's approval if I wish to oppose them and overthrow them? Would people really go like "oh but the law forbids us to have weapons, so lets not revolt against our government"? Also, wouldn't the first thing a tyrant would do is scrap the constitution and impose a weapon ban?
It's not about getting the government's blessing before a revolt. It's one of the things that makes this country great, the fact that the Founding Fathers codified the right of the people to remove the government should it become oppressive and tyrannical. The likelihood of it actually happening...yeah, that's a different story.

Second thing, a revolution can be done without bloodshed. See Egypt.
Uh, maybe you should see Egypt, because that regime change was far from bloodless. It wasn't an open war, but it's not like the Mubarak regime just said "Oh, you want us to leave? Ok, just let us clean out our desks."

Also, there's no need for a weapon in defending your home if the other dude doesn't have a weapon either. And you say when the gov't fails to protect you. How do you determine if that is the case?
Says who? You? With all due respect, kiss the darkest part of my big, white ass. You don't have the right to tell me how I should defend my home and family. You don't have the right to tell me to wait and verify whether or not someone that's broken into my home is carrying a weapon. The law (in NC, at least) states that if I feel that there's a threat of death or grievous bodily harm from a burglar deadly force is legal. Now, do I want to blow away another human being? Of course not. I wouldn't simply run at the intruder with guns blazing. But would I shoot someone if I felt they posed the aforementioned threat? Without a moment's hesitation.
We've had this discussion before, and I know where your opinions lie. I don't agree with them and I know you don't agree with mine.
