I haven't listened to the whole Clinton speech (just 2 minutes from a clip) and I have no real idea what is in his speech or the speeches from other DNC speakers. But what I find hilarious and more telling than anything else, is that the "fact checkers" have confirmed that - unlike the GOP convention - the speeches aren't filled to the brim with lies and made-up bullshit. What's even more hilarious is that the GOP's criticism of Clinton's speech is that it was...wait for it...too long.

That coupled with a bazillion childish comments from right-wing pundits about how Democrats "want taxpayers to pay for their tanning appointments" or "want free birth control pills" shows anyone with half a brain which party is about policy and which party is about politics. One party wants to use government to enrich everyone and the other party wants to enrich themselves (and nobody else...fuck you loser get a job).

Only in America is there still a debate over which party is the most destructive and least useful to voters.

Oh christ what am I saying? There's still a debate in America about evolution, global warming and angels...

ffs dude...as an outsider watching the circus and the absolute insanity of American politics it's easy to see that the Democrats actually want to govern while the Republicans just want to loot an entity that endlessly prints money and doesn't really care if they burn the house down while doing it. It's not even about ideology anymore, it's just about throwing a wrench into everything because - as I've been hearing more and more - they don't just think society doesn't work, they believe there is no society. They certainly don't believe in the concept of a Social Contract, which to me is the perfect example of patriotism regardless of which country you're in. For the nutters, it's Us or Them. Git off my lawn. It's not a coincidence that the richer you get, the more detached and secluded from society you become and the more protective of "your stuff" you are while simultaneously becoming a bit more selfish. There's a shit-ton of research to back this up. Rich communties are gated communties...gated not just from the riff-raff, but from each other.

The American GOP is a cartoon version of the craziest right-wingers in other countries. No bullshit, your American Democratic party would be Canada's right-wing party. At the very least, the Conservative party in Canada wants to attempt government, not destroy it from the inside like your GOP.

Bill Mahar put it nicely and it's probably the number one reason why I and anyone else should be passionate about politics and how we are governed: the right-wingers of the world will end up killing us all. Don't believe me? Google "Global Change Game" and find out for yourself. In case you're too lazy, I'll give you the highlights: during one of the experiments with nutballs in charge, the nutballs nuked the planet. When that happened the experiment handlers turned off all the lights and stopped the game. Then, after the experiment handlers told the right-wing nutballs that...you know..."killing every living creature on the planet was a bad thing", the handlers then reset the game.

And can you guess what happened after the game reset? They nuked the fucking planet again.

Simple question: Has there ever been a psychopath in history that was a bleeding-heart liberal?
