When I connect my usb CompactFlash card reader

Post by Guest »

My CPU temp rises from 37C to 45C which I find quite substantial. Any idea on what causes it?

2000+ athlon xp
Asus A7N8X
512mb ddr266 ram

reader: SanDisk CF card reader USB 2.0

Look at your Task Manager Performance tab for CPU usage. For some reason, it might be causing high CPU usage resulting in higher temps. Maybe whatever software it's launching is, for some reason, using a lot of processing power.
And if that's the case, those load temps are totally fine. I would expect full load on that CPU in to raise the temp to the mid 50s.

I've checked the cpu usage right away, and its normal, <5% on idle. There is no software other than the Windows removable drive thing that turns on when I connect it... Its not that I worry about the temperature, its the raise of temperature due to that that confuses me.

I dunno then.

The temps boards report are rarely remotely accurate. It could not even be any warmer, just reading something different.
