He keeps referring to GameServers. I had 2 DoD Source servers with them for a few years. They use Linux or Windows for
there Server Software. As to the exact version of Windows Server or Linux they use I have no idea. As for Administrating
the server its as you all have stated, its done thru an ftp client. I also used webhosting as a server for fast downloading of maps.
it had a server console used to admin the site but I still had to use an ftp client to upload maps to it.
He stated"I wouldn't mind getting a hold of this to run a listen? server or what for Quake 2 and Quake 3 if I get a FAST CABLE connection."
This is Copied right from Q3W Quake III Beginers Guide -
Listen Server
Listen Server mode allows the player to host a server from within the same instance of Quake III in which they are playing. When the listen server host player exits Quake III or returns to the main menu the server shuts down and disconnects any connected clients. To run a listen server in Quake III, choose the multiplayer menu. Click the "create" button at the bottom of the screen. You'll be shown a list of all the maps available for the gametype selected. Select the gametype you wish to play (Free For All, Team Deathmatch, CTF, 1on1 Tournament, etc) and select a map to play from the list. Click "next".
So dude You need to-
1- Learn the difference between Listen and Dedicated servers.
2- Get a better understanding of the English Language and
the use of puctuation to get your point across.
When people start using foul language, they
show just how immature and ignorant they really are.
That being said
3- GROW UP.
Here You can use this. Maybe it will help.
