Are you shoving your knees out when you squat? And you're not divebombing into the hole are you? And were you pointing your toes out at least a little?feedback wrote:
Back squats hurt my (injured, from back squats) right hip flexor. Using a wide stance tightens the hip flexors so it causes more problems than the front squat.

I used powerlifting style, my feet were out about 30 degrees. Hit all my cues, powerlifting style without gear is just too much for my hips.[xeno]Julios wrote:Are you shoving your knees out when you squat? And you're not divebombing into the hole are you? yea I think I remember reading a thread by some dude training with powerlifters who encouraged him to adopt a really wide stance - they all trained with gear but he was raw - ended up hurting his flexors also.

OK so I have gone to the dark side and am doing something I thought'd I'd never do - take suppliments. I have BCAA to help with my recovery as I suffer badly from DOMS, I have African Mango to help strip the last of my beer fat away and I am taking ZMA to help with recovery and sleep. I am not expecting much of a change in my training but I will be happy to see some change in my recovery. Also a good sleep pattern would be awesome.

nothing wrong with supplements... i take sunwarrior chocolate protein powder, creatine, MCT oil, krill oil, and a daily vitamin. helps a lot.

I take unflavoured whey isolate, and a maltodextrin based supplement (the latter of which I'll be weaning off soon). Thinking of trying out creatine - heard lots of great things about it just never got around to it.

Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
So I have hit a plateau in my training at the moment and it is getting frustrating. This has happened before but not for this amount of time. I am training less than I used to due to work, but I was still hoping to keep up a fairly constant rate of progress given what I am used to. Hopefully this wont last much longer...........

one armed db rows, pendlay rows, weighted chinups...
deadlifts actually work the entire back incredibly well if you can learn good technique. The back muscles function primarily isometrically in the deadlift but you can still develop mass and strength through it.
