What makes you think I'm not doing deadlifts already, though?

Because you're a n00b and it's quite an advanced exercise.

He wouldn't mess it up if he goes "light" and gets his posture correct, in fairness. It'll help start to develope the muscles he will need to go heavier in the futuer.

PlanB - I wouldn't go above 70kg and work on making sure you get your back curve correct and you are feeling the initial lift in your legs. Get some tips of one of the trainers at the gym.

He's doing pushups for his back ffs, he doesn't know shit. Sure he won't fuck up if he goes light and had good posture, the problem is there's a 95% chance he won't do it correctly. That being said, I don't really give a shit to be honest. Just sayin'.

Yeah thats fair comment, hence saying he needed to speak to someone at the gym about it.

Then again it took my coach about 4 or 5 hours of setting me up correctly before I stopped getting the aching lower back every time I did it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks Donny, but I'm good.
I've been lifting for 20 years now, and I know perfectly well how to hit each and every muscle group. But indeed, the back muscles are often neglected.

You've been lifting for 20 years, and you know perfectly well how to hit each and every muscle group, but you don't know how to train your back and thought push ups would do the trick. You should probably just kill yourself.

You have a big imbalance between your right and left sides. Do more bilateral work.

most of my stuff is bilateral these days - and not overly concerned about asymmetries from an aesthetic point of view - not into bodybuilding, more into just getting strong :)

Hopefully once i start doing overhead presses and pendlay rows that will help too. But those imbalances you see are the result of years of my development as a child spent furiously masturbating with one arm, and playing racquet sports. Dunno how much I can do about it now :p

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to put on another 10-15 lbs of muscle relatively easily, it shouldn't take too long to fix

considering this is what I looked like at age 25

and the fact that I'm closing on 36 years of age

and the fact that I need 4000 calories to maintain bodyweight of 160-165 (with a lot of that mass in my lower body - I have narrow arm and wrist bones but my thighs and knees are much thicker proportioned, and I have relatively short torso)

I don't think it'd be that easy to gain another 10-15lb of muscle.

Maybe I'm wrong though - what would you suggest if I were to do it?

yea i know i am just a plain guy now , but back when i was super fit in my 30's i did a whole whack of swinging ey

from a 60 foot tree on a rope, i did it probably for about a year super hardcore.

run as fast as you can and swing pumping like fuck , when the rope hits full vertical the gravity forces are loco.

i always switched up hand positions and body emphasis and swung upside down , whatever i wanted ey .

i have wide shoulders and a big chest so my back got totally fucking awesome and filled in ey like a mini dorion back (the 1995 pre fucked up version , not the blobby synthol bollocks ) . totally 3d back, not that shit flat gymm weights back. ey no offense! i dont brag alot but this shits legit ey

nothing has been able to activate those muscles like that ever sinse, i hope to one day to swing again

it probably one of THE most natural thing you can do

try it and you will agree
it is about time!
