So you are addressing your weak life by purchasing a home gym because you are a dishwasher who isn't allowed out unless his wife says so. Nice.

Your life is weak dude. Every aspect of it in every conceivable way.
Sorry to be the one to break it to you, especially over the Internet :/

Goals help you to focus dude. You don't need to be trying to be Mr. Universe.GONNAFISTYA wrote:Why do you obsessive cunts think everyone's trying to be Mr.Universe?andyman wrote:depends what your goals are. i'm assuming you don't have any?

It is just pointless turning up somewhere and running for 30 minutes at a random speed on a treadmill.
You should at least say "OK today I want to run 3 miles" then you can progress to "I want to run 3 miles in 30 minutes" then "I was to run 3 miles in 25 minutes"
It just bring focus or you might end up not really doing anything

How deep are you going on the squats?Don Carlos wrote: In other news my knee is getting better so I'm getting back to heavy squats again; 5-5-3-3-1-1. I'm doing 220lbs on the one and my knee is coping so I'm going to attempt 240lbs soon...

Increase strength.
Increase fitness.
Lose fat.
Gain muscle.
None of these are trying to be Mr Universe. And none of them are achievable from training once or twice a week.
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.

not true - might not be optimal, but I gained significant strength and muscle going to the gym twice a week.LawL wrote: Common goals:

Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
yes, I did.
the difference between these pics is 4 months of training, doing 2 working sets of weighted dips and squats on mondays, and weighted chins and deadlifts on fridays.
As I said, not optimal, but certainly possible.

This makes no sense. Ryoki has clearly stated his goal of not becoming a fat blob.Don Carlos wrote:Goals help you to focus dude. You don't need to be trying to be Mr. Universe.GONNAFISTYA wrote:Why do you obsessive cunts think everyone's trying to be Mr.Universe?
lol wut? Whenever I go for a 2-or-more hour mountain bike ride I don't have a destination or goal in mind, I'm riding because I enjoy riding.Don Carlos wrote:It is just pointless turning up somewhere and running for 30 minutes at a random speed on a treadmill.

Sorry but I guess for people who have a specific goal (losing 20 lbs) it makes sense but not in an everyday sort of way, especially if you enjoy it. I mountain bike as a part of my lifestyle, not because I think I need to do it otherwise I'm a failure and I sure as hell won't think I'm a failure if I don't compete with the clearly obsessed.
Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
Lawl's genetics are so bad he has to train more than twice a week to see results
...
That's seriously pathetic...no joke...

Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
Riding a bike and weight lifting or body building are not comparable. You absolutely need to have a goal in weight lifting (by definition, weight) or body building (size). People do it for the results, and you don't get any without having a goal.GONNAFISTYA wrote:

Way to completely miss the point.

Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
You're never leaving your comfort zone on your bike rides, that's why it's an activity and not exercise, and therefore does not require any sort of goal other than to enjoy the flowers.

Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
Ok...so lemme get this straight: if you're not working towards a goal you're not exercising?
Like I alluded to earlier, you guys are bringing obsessive attitudes to give advice to someone (Ryoki) who doesn't have the same goals (if any) as you. If someone spends their entire life unhappy with their bodies and continually have the goal to "improve" then you truly are missing the point I'm trying to make.

Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
You are partaking in a hobbie that involves physical exertion of some sort. It's like saying I enjoy going for walks - it isn't exercise per say. We were designed to walk.
Exercise by its very definition is physical exertion to promote fitness and well being.
The issue we have is that people's definition of fit is different...

Re: Well hell may be freezing over (workout)
lol I had a feeling this would be almost exactly like having a conversation with a gun-nut.
Let me refresh your obviously short memories:
What is so difficult about this concept?
And the next person that says that me spending several hours out getting sweaty on a mountain bike isn't exercise is a goddamned retard.

I'll state in plain english for you dumb motherfuckers: don't give the same advice to Ryoki that you'd give to someone who actively wants to be Mr.Universe.Ryoki wrote:I'm going to admit freely here that i only go to the gym maybe twice a week to not become a fat cunt and know little about what i'm doing. Obviously getting out and walking around etc is better than doing nothing, but as far as I'm concerned exercise requires an accelerated heart over a prolonged period of time, or a physically challenging.
I would agree that your bike rides are exercise.
