I still find it both funny and sad that he created that thread on the day of the Sandy Hook shootings to show everyone here that "see....this is why gun control doesn't work" and it backfired and blew up horribly in his face, with the entire forum telling him his worldview is a paranoid, fucked-up one. It turns out he was just another shaved-head angry redneck gun-nut.
Seriously...it's because of him that I honestly feel that no matter your intelligence, if you're willing to join the military you are hopelessly lost in a fortified, macho-based alternate reality that forbids you from actually thinking clearly.
I wonder how many guns he's bought since he left?

Nazi-esque collection program. Police stateYou have really fucking lost it. You just have no clue as to how the rest of the world works do you?
Nightshade wrote: Of course, because the Nazis didn't enact the 1938 German Weapons Act allowing only those "persons whose trustworthiness is not in question" to own weapons (and expressly forbidding Jews from owning weapons), therefore making it a legitimate comparison. And you're right, I'm totally off the wall with my comment about a police state, because there's no reason to worry at all about the government, police, and paramilitary organizations like Blackwater being the only ones allowed to have guns. It's not as if you yourself have made a bunch of posts in the POLICE STATE thread or anything. Fuck, I'm just a ranting, paranoid loon. Fucking Waco and Ruby Ridge? My own personal fantasies. Violent criminals that would LOVE to know that private citizens don't have guns anymore? They don't exist.
So, by all means, keep dismissing every point I make with your self-righteous bullshit comments. Ignore everything I've posted recently or in the past about agreeing with common-sense gun laws, about how some people simply shouldn't be allowed to have guns, how mental health screenings are a good idea as a prerequisite for gun ownership, and that the real problem here is a cultural and mental health crisis. Just smoke some more weed and keep telling me I've lost it because I don't think like you do.

Nightshade wrote: Yes, I know. There's no possible way it could have been a legitimate comparison. You heard the phrase "Godwin's Law" on the internet, and that permanently removed the ability for anyone to ever compare anything to what Nazis did ever again.
EtUL wrote: The law you referred to seemed to relax restrictions on guns, except for Jews of course. I don't see where they collected them, on the contrary. Only handguns needed the permit you referred to long guns were unrestricted. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politi ... eapons_Act
Regardless I'm sure you could find a way to make your point without using Nazis...

pretty sure all those Iraqis with guns in their homes didn't stop Saddam; not sure though
the whole "armed populace prevents tyranny" argument was pretty weak even in Jefferson's day (didn't Washington have cannon?). these days it's just ridiculous: on one side the government has drones, Tomahawks, an air force and combat-hardened special forces guys who've had millions spent on them in training; while on the other side, 'We the People' have Cletus McLardbucket and Billy Bob Whoppergobbler with the Glocks and AR-15s they use to put holes in paper targets down at the range every weekend
no contest

As a counterpoint to your counterpoint; all those Iraqis with guns (and huge stockpiles unaccounted for explosive stuff) sure managed to make things very difficult indeed for the best equipped, most modern army in the world for a good time - at least until some evil cunts decided to make it a shiite vs sunnite thing*.seremtan wrote:pretty sure all those Iraqis with guns in their homes didn't stop Saddam; not sure though

Anyway, your argument only works on paper but not so well in practice. In practice modern democracies are incredibly sensitive about losing young fighting men, we don't handle that very well at all anymore. Different ballgame for ruthless regimes of course, those guys don't give a shit.
* read up on Fisk's reporting of that, it's as interesting as it is paranoid. He argues convincingly that the period of mental sectarian violence was instigated by the occupation forces on purpose to distract the resistance. Maybe tin foil hat time, maybe it's some true sith overlord shit that went down. Guess we'll find out in 20 years or something.

i'd like at least one link for this plz. frankly, i'm skeptical. i could just about believe that the occupation forces threw a few cups of gasoline on an already burning fire, but actually start the fire? in a country they're notorious for not really understanding in the first place?Ryoki wrote:* read up on Fisk's reporting of that, it's as interesting as it is paranoid.
