I thought id said they weren't going to contract their IP's out to third party developers anymore. I guess they figured it wouldn't be any better if they made it in house. In fact, there's barely any mention of id Software except in the fine print.

Soooo.... B.J. Blazkowicz meets Jimi Hendrix who in this alternate reality is a singing underground resistance fighter? I can see how this game might be interesting where B.J. wakes up like Gordon Freeman and realizes the world has gone wrong, there are mad zeppelins in the sky, mechs patrolling the streets, a Statuen Die Fuhrer in New York, and that he's a fugitive on the run.

Actually, this may be shaping up to look pretty good. It'll be a modified id Tech 5 engine based game. They are focusing completely on SP which I think is the better move rather than making half-baked MP modes no one will play anyway (yes, I'm aware RTCW had great single and multiplayer game modes, but those were developed by different studios - Gray Matter SP, Nerve/Splash Damage MP - and it's much harder to do that these days).

Apparently these are all in-game screenshots, I had passed some of them off as painted concept art.

Why wouldn't they simply take RtCW and update it? I'd play that...

Because then you would cry about "yet another remake"

Oh. I'm not sure if I've ever "cried" about a remake. Or even cared that much to make a comment...

At least the new consoles are allowing us to have some real graphics progression again.

Order up! The next installment in the Wolfenstein series, The New Order, launches on May 20 in North America and on May 23 in Europe, publisher Bethesda Softworks has announced. Wolfenstein: The New Order is the first game from developer MachineGames, founded in 2009 by exiting members of Riddick-dev Starbreeze.

Bethesda also revealed that pre-ordering The New Order will net players an invite to a beta for Doom, which a Bethesda representative tells Joystiq is "the next Doom game from id Software." Developer id Software first announced a new installment in the franchise, at the time titled Doom 4, in May 2008. Since then, id has muttered nary a word about the next game – save for today's news that, yes, it's still in development. Bethesda promises more information on the beta, which has not been dated, on its official site.
