Anyway, I don't know if this latest update will lose me my save games or keep them intact. I want to backup save data for cut the rope and a handful of those 100 doors type games. All the game saves backup apps on play store seem to be for rooted phones, which mine isn't. So, how do I back them up? I found a cut the rope file called ctr.zsf on my phone under sdcard/ZeptoLab/Cut the Rope/ctr.zsf. I think that's the save file if anyone with the game could confirm? In which case I can save that manually, but no idea where the save files are for other games.

Backing up phone save games?
My Galaxy S2 is informing me of a 391MB software update which I think is Jellybean from ICS. I've got 'My Backup Pro' which I've used before to backup data successfully, but I'm fairly sure it didn't save my save games, just the games themselves. And when I went from Gingerbread to ICS, I think it reset the games. That was ages ago with not many games on the phone so can't honestly remember too well.

Re: Backing up phone save games?
Can't say for the S2, but I didn't lose any data whatsoever when I updated my Note 10.1 from ICS to JellyBean.
I don't think Android has a central location or unified system for save games, so each game has its own savegame implementation. I think that makes it impossible to specifically backup savegames. Your best bet is to do like you did for Cut the Rope and browse through the folders and see if you find anything that could be a save file for your game and back that up.

Re: Backing up phone save games?
Yeah, I'll have a good browse. Well that's certainly promising if you didn't lose any data from the Note since my android update will be the same and for essentially the same phone, only yours is bigger. Well, actually, yours is fucking huge. How you liking the Note? I've been considering it or maybe the SGS4.Eraser wrote:Can't say for the S2, but I didn't lose any data whatsoever when I updated my Note 10.1 from ICS to JellyBean.

Re: Backing up phone save games?
I lost exactly zero non-system data when updating from ICS to JB. This was on a S3, tho the hardware probably shouldnt matter.

Weirdo...
Re: Backing up phone save games?
The Note 10.1 is not a phone, in case you're confusing it with the Note or Note 2. It's the 10.1" tablet brother of the note. I really like it. Most practical use I get out of it that's hard(er) to do with other tablets is that I use dropbox to sync sheet music and mp3's of songs me and my band play while the Note's stylus makes it very easy to scribble down notes and annotations on the sheet music while I'm practicing with the band. Oh, and playing Draw Something with it is totally awesomeDRuM wrote:Yeah, I'll have a good browse. Re: Backing up phone save games?
An in-place update doesn't wipe any data, so you're safe.
