Nothing new has happened to iPhone since last summer, so there's no need to chime in. Obviously if you're on the market right now, the latest Android hardware is going to easily top it.Dark Metal wrote:Where are the Apple fanbois?

I have an s3 mini and it's fine tbh... but then I generally use it as a phone and not a handheld computer. It runs apps fine, but the biggest draw for me was it is actually a decent size and doesn't feel like I'm carrying a goddamn kindle around in my pocket (unlike the massive normal s3)Ryoki wrote:Is it? Didn't know. Noone i know has one of those, everyone's sporting S4's or S3's... pretty sure i'll be getting the S4 as well, think it's pretty sexy.

Re: So what's the deal with phones now?...
Just picked up my S4 today. It's quite a bit different than my Charge. But it still comes with just as much of the preloaded junk (possibly more). The S4 is extremely fast and responsive. Moving around pages, loading apps and other general functions happen almost instantly after touching the screen. The quad core seems to be doing its job. I haven't had much time to play with it's other special functions (air view and motion gestures). From what I have seen "air view" doesn't really work. The screen/display has to be the most impressive thing so far. It's really bright and looks fucking awesome. However, I'm disappointed with the tethering. I assumed that my previously purchased tether app would work.
All in all its a relay great phone if you don't use it to tether. The app Foxfi does seem to work for a wireless hot spot.

Fuck off...
Re: So what's the deal with phones now?...
Tethering has been built-in to the Android OS for a number of years now, you shouldn't need to use a separate app for this. I.e. assuming there is no carrier side gobbledegook getting in the way. I've heard that US carriers like to charge for tethering and therefore try to influence handset makers to disable it in the OS. But I don't know whether they're still doing it. I'd first check to see if the default tethering is working. You can enable that by going into:YourGrandpa wrote:tethering

its a slippery phone for me anyways
i dont use a phone case but what i did was stick some 3M velcro on the back , the looped side, and sticks to the inside of alot of jacket pockets and such.
you can apply a piece of the other sided velcro where you may need it for ex the car
it is about time!

I've been using my free work phone for over a year now. I was originally going to get a Note and use my personal line just to surf the net, but never really got around to buying it. I'm pretty sure I can find something better to do with the $67 a month I spend to keep my personal line going. I'll probably switch it to a pay as you go account and spend $100 for the year to keep the line.
If things changed, I'd probably get an S4.

same. work rolled out iphones 4s with unlimited data plans world wide. all my calls, data and text are free wherever i am and it's not a bad phone. ditching the personal phone nets me £38 a month to spend on nappies (dresses).

I had delayed responding in this topic as I didn't think I was smart enough for a smart phone. Seems they're just so involvedYourGrandpa wrote:Just picked up my S4 today. Still haven't had much time to play with all the features. However, I did spend a little time streaming DirecTV. Let me tell you the streaming was flawless. Great picture and audio with absolutely no lag/skipping/etc., and I was streaming on 4G. The battery life is also very respectable. My battery is usually near dead at the end of the day. I used my phone quite a bit today and had over 50% at the end of the day today.
This is my (company paid for) work/personal phone. It also has unlimited data.

Go check out the S4, it's really not that big. The screen size makes reading web sites fairly easy without zooming.Whiskey 7 wrote: I had delayed responding in this topic as I didn't think I was smart enough for a smart phone. Seems they're just so involved![]()
