i think entertainers that require to up the risk every time should be well aware that they don't have enough material to push through to any significant level of the competition.. I think they do it mostly for the recognition boost. one time might be enough, but making it through to 2nd 3rd, etc round is that much more exposure for them.

I really doubt anyone like that is really considering the possibility of going all the way.
