Google Street View Hyperlapse

Post by U4EA »

This is pretty damn cool. They used the Google Maps street view API to compile some timelapse [or "hyperlapse", as they refer to it] footage.

It's a problem on your end.
Seriously, I'm using Firefox and it played for me no problem.

Works for me. Didn't we have this exact same conversation with DTS the last time someone posted a video and he came back a week later and was like, "oh, it was because I turned off cookies or some shit because I don't want the gov'ment watching me downloading my porn"?

You mean that time on irc when I had him nuke Firefox plus bookmarks and settings, only to find out that didn't make an ounce of difference and he was in fact being owned?
Fun times.

0.35-0.42 is definitely good old boring dutcheeland

EDIT: btw, I doubt this is made just from tacked together google map footage.
No way is that shit that fluid.

I think it would be this fluid if you used their API to programmatically set the speed of movement as well as the pan/tilt/angle/yaw/whatever of the camera. It is also greatly sped up, which also helps it appear more fluid than if you were to attempt it manually by hand.

If you check out the link in their video, you can try it out yourself. I tried it in my home town and it's a blur of chaos. It's probably best on long open stretches with little in the way of sudden view changes.

I don't use Noscript, just Adblock Plus and PeerBlock; I tried disabling both but it made no difference :(

Also turned cookies on, no difference.

Blah blah blah. Fact remains: it's a problem on your end, not theirs.

Think you're right. Built up areas are too choppy, straight roads and something like a countryside view looked pretty decent though.
