Just play infinite. It's only called Bioshock because the gameplay is similar.Unisaw wrote:For those of us who haven't played the series, can we start off with BioShock 2 and slide into Infinite?
BioShock Infinite

Re: BioShock Infinite
I didn't make the chart. But yeah, by the end of the game, you're definitely in Lost territory, as far as all the little details that you have to try to piece together to make sense of the story. Whether or not that's a good thing is anybody's opinion, but yeah, I thought it was a pretty cool story!GONNAFISTYA wrote:You don't think for 2 seconds that you're overthinking this?Mogul wrote:It really is a stunning combination of immersion and setting, music, gameplay, narrative, art direction, and apparently programming (Elizabeth is reportedly an amazing piece of code). Truly a great game.
I mean...a chart? Really?
This line only remake is total rubbish I've ever seen!!! Fuck off!!! --CZghost
Re: BioShock Infinite
I have an extra Steam key for the game. $30 (or make an offer) if anyone is interested.

Re: BioShock Infinite
Agreed; best game in a long time. At least when it comes to storytelling and game experience.Plan B wrote:I loathe using superlatives, but the way this game is put together is truly superb.
So yes, it's the best game I've played in 5 years.
But concerning the gameplay i found the action/shooting sequences to be actually distracting. The game would have been better if the narrative was not interrupted all the time by shooting hordes of random guys.
Re: BioShock Infinite
I agree the narrative is the most compelling part of this game. But it's still a FPS; you have to fight your way through.
And I don't think the combat is a throwaway. It's well dosed and always functional and fair.

Re: BioShock Infinite
The pacing in the game is excellent so far (just finished Hall of Heroes), which is kind of surprising considering how few combat encounters there have been so far.
Re: BioShock Infinite
i thought about getting this, but after watching a play-through by some guy on pootube realised i'd pretty much had 98% of the experience
Re: BioShock Infinite
If his conjectures are indeed intentional on the part of Irrational Games, then it doesn't matter if you go back and play the first two games after Infinite or before Infinite. Either way you'd still be seeing one story reflected in the other but there is still no direct lineage from 1 or 2 to Infinite.Pext wrote:Haha... No.bitWISE wrote:Just play infinite. Re: BioShock Infinite
Yeah That's true. Btw: How did you like the game and the ending?
Re: BioShock Infinite
Loving the game so far. I barely get time to play games these days so I haven't finished it. I'm just up to the part where I opened the tears to learn the truths.
Re: BioShock Infinite
Just finished the game and I think he's reading too much into it. I guess it's just a bit of fan service.Pext wrote:Haha... No.bitWISE wrote:Just play infinite. It's only called Bioshock because the gameplay is similar.

Re: BioShock Infinite
Oh and a tip for platform choice: don't get it on xbox 360 if you can go for PC. The framerates on the Xbox 360 are abysmal.
Re: BioShock Infinite
Extra tip: that goes for every game.
Re: BioShock Infinite
Untrue. Besides, aren't you one of the people that's pretty vocal about PC games being shoddy console ports? Don't start playing a new hand whenever the old one doesn't suit you anymore.
Re: BioShock Infinite
Here's a very well produced video showing some eastereggs (or rather clever references) in the game. Warning, it contains spoilers:
Re: BioShock Infinite
Currently 50% on Steam for another 9-ish hours from now.
Re: BioShock Infinite
fuk u, it's still $80 for us in Australia, $40 when it was on sale.

Yeah but Aussies like getting fucked in the ass.
Re: BioShock Infinite
Really? I thought it was excellently paced and really set up the mood and gave a great oppertunity to experience the world of Columbia. I was actually glad that they didn't throw you in the heat of battle right away like it was some sort of Call of Duty power fantasy again.Memphis wrote:The first 1/4 of the game was flat-out boring.
I completed the game on Hard, but after that, 1999 mode seems like little more than self inflicted torture to me.Memphis wrote:Anyone tried the so-called 1999 mode? Hard was too grindy for my tastes, particularly come the later battles. Seems rather than it being another gamemode, it's just a harder hard mode. That blimp battle's going to be bastid with bullet-sponge mobs flooding in.
Re: BioShock Infinite
Indeed. I want a game to be a fun experience, which it isn't if it's too easy or too hard.Eraser wrote:I completed the game on Hard, but after that, 1999 mode seems like little more than self inflicted torture to me.
I get how people get their fun out of setting the bar as high as possible, also with the 100%-ing stuff etc. but that's not how I approach games (anymore).
Really anticipating DLC (if any is forthcoming?)
Re: BioShock Infinite
I fucking loved it. Every damn second of it. When I first got to Columbia, I spent 15 minutes just wandering around the watery/candely area where the hymn is playing. It took me more than an hour to make my way to the raffle with the 77 baseball. Songbird was superbly implemented. Ima let you finish, but Elizabeth has to rank amongst [if not outright be] the best sidekicks of all time. The ending gave me goosebumps.Memphis wrote:Can't decide if I like the ending.
GOTY for sure.
