It is - otherwise we would have been stuck with the Xbox One pile of shite if we wanted a console. Yay Sony etc etc

yet another backpedal by MS

Kinect no longer needed for XBone to work.
no Kinect-free bundle tho, so it's still 100 bucks more than the ps4.

"You have the ability to completely turn the sensor off in your settings. When in this mode, the sensor is not collecting any information. Any functionality that relies on voice, video, gesture or more won’t work. We still support using it for IR blasting in this mode. You can turn the sensor back on at any time through settings, and if you enter into a required Kinect experience (like Kinect Sports Rivals for instance), you’ll get a message asking if you want to turn the sensor back on in order to continue."

Xbox One's controller will be compatible with PC. There's also no longer a difference between wired and non-wired controllers, because the one controller is able to do both. You can plug a USB cable into it to use it as wired controller.

What the article isn't entirely clear about is if you can use this controller wirelessly with PC. I doubt it can, but it would be great if it could.

The article also states that they're working hard to make sure the Xbox One controller works with PC games that support the Xbox 360 controller.

I don't think you can. the current wireless doesnt work at all I believe, or perhaps via some third party dongle.

The 360 wireless controller works fine with PC, as long as you have a USB receiver hooked up to it.

Sony clearly had the upper hand, but Microsoft is making it more and more difficult to decide between the two consoles. I actually may be leaning towards the X-Bone...

Well, as a PC guy, that's understandable. But this is a console thread and some people will actually buy one.

Good on ya for using that phrase correctly. Bugs the shit outa me...

I wouldn't be surprised if the console is region locked.

Region locks? Like on your DVD player...?
It means that media items are marked for a certain region and only devices from that region can play the media. So in other words, a DVD player bought in North America (DVD region 1) can only play DVD's that are marked as region 1. I expect Xbox One has a similar scheme (most consoles and gaming devices have had that) so an Xbox One bought in the US can only play games published in the US market and not the European market.
