that black 'renthal' labeled area...is that added on, or part of the frame? is that sum kind of grease protector, or an aesthetic choice to mask the grimy buildup over time, or just protecting against chain scrapes?

It helps with chain slap, but mainly it's an ad for Renthal. I had the bike covered in an 3M film from a company called Invisiframe to protect it.

Bawl, I've got a £4.5k BMC. I've gone right off road riding. Just too boring. The only reason I ride road now is to commute or for cardio.
