so yeah, the american government shutdown...
so yeah, the american government shutdown...
I'm interested to hear from the q3w masses about how they feel about the whole thing. From what ive read so far it seems to point once again to just how fucked the american system of governance works... thoughts?
Re: so yeah, the american government shutdown...
What about it?
Re: so yeah, the american government shutdown...
Is this another one of those Q3W poor ppl threads?...
Re: so yeah, the american government shutdown...
Must say I am surprised that they let it get this far, but them I am 'Down Under' and far removed fro their sphere of influence (hopefully).
Truthfully, I have cared little about the way they govern so I am not often surprised at the event that unfold there.
There must be some here from the US and I too will be interested in their thoughts.

I'm glad it shut down. It makes the Republicans look like complete idiots and it makes the chances of a Democratic president in 2016 all the more likely. Not that blue is much better than red, but I'll take what I can get until this 2-party system collapses.

I should have mention that we recently had a change in national government from Labor to Liberal, not that blue is much better than red here either

It shows that the parties (in particular the Conservatives) aren't really interested in taking part in what should be one of the main fundamentals of their jobs... diplomacy. Instead, they want to play the party politics game and throw a hissy fit like spoiled children.

lol amuhricans...
I can understand how the ridiculous television networks/talkshows exist (Glenn Beck etc), but for this to happen in the government of the country that supposes itself to be the "leader of the world". Pathetic.

Honestly, that reaction isn't far off what some of my coworkers are going on about - histrionics abound!
The last time this happened it was 3 weeks before anything got sorted... and it was the Republicans who caused it too?
Can anyone explain what they hope to get out of this, other than making themselves look foolish? :/

Re: so yeah, the american government shutdown...
It is very simple and it works perfectly: they will never look foolish because they have a multi-billion dollar machine called Fox News and the New York Times that blames everyone except the Republicans. It also helps that they're so fucking crazy that everybody is afraid of them, including the "libirul" media who's too afraid to place the blame on them, and would rather say "both sides do it", leaving the American people with no way of sorting out what's really going on. Of course, any average American can find out what's going on by visiting a news site not based in their country, but that would mean Americans would actually have to admit that other countries exist and would never take the word of feriners anyway.vesp wrote:Can anyone explain what they hope to get out of this, other than making themselves look foolish? :/
It's hilarious, in a psychopath's wet-dream sort of way. It truly is hilarious to see yet another country, even one apparently based in democracy, be paralyzed with fear from pissing off a small group of very loud assholes. Taliban anyone?
