Impressive find indeed, that's a huge haul but finds like these happen quite a bit. It's not unusual to find a few coins but if you find a collection then you're one of the lucky ones.

This dude wasn't that long ago -

It is believed to be one of the largest hoards of Roman gold coins ever found in Britain. Most of them are from around this time period n all, during the Saxon invasions. Saxons never left survivors so it's thought that these treasures were never retrieved because there was no one left to without the defence of the Romans.

Find it impressive that finds like these can still be made. They found found an entire ship full of shit from the same period in Newport and that was only a few years back, the museums have no room left lol, thanks to the Roman Fort Newport was built around -

This was a tribal people, something that hadn't existed in Britain for over 1600 years by the time Columbus had landed and were still amazed by stonework, in North America atleast. In Britain the metal industry had already been fueling armies for 2/3000 years across 3 rulers (Celtic / Roman / British) that loved nothing more than to fight with neighbours. The influence can still be seen today, wether it's in roads or castles. Europe by the point of Columbus landing was already heavily industrialised and provides some epic finds to the way living styles varied and their influence on modern society, local and global and how far advanced culture was in those days. Romes population during its peak for example could not be matched until the Industrial revolution, around 1000 years later.

America essentially dumped its history on top of another history, which could provide some niche beliefs that never progressed much further than arrowheads. I pissed myself when timeteam went to America and dug a trench for a WWII installation, in Britain we would've plowed through that layer with a digger to get to the good shit
